Hamp Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 KH swing, or PH I would think. How long since you tested your water or did a water change? How long were you gone? Quote
JamesL Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Also, check your Mg levels. I had lots of issues with Acans when my Mg was low. Quote
Timfish Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Were you gone during the cold front we had? I had the Birdsnest in 2 tanks lose most of the brown pigmentation in two systems that dropped to 70 - 71 degrees. Nothing else was affected and it didn't kill the Birdsnest they're just noticably pinker without the brown coloration. As far as the "bugs" if you haven't added anything in a while without dipping I'd say they're most likely benificial and just scavaging food not the cause. Since you've had some dieoff I would expect it to have some impact on your water parameters. It can be a guess sometimes if a dieoff caused a change in test results or if something caused a change in parameters that negatively impacted the livestock. Obviously a water change is in order either way. Quote
teg Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Monitor your alkalinity and pH over a week to see if it swing, like Hamp said above. Quote
