  1. ever consider homemade frozen? saves more money in long run, plus you get to control what you put in.
  2. here are some update pictures of the babies.
  3. update: have about 10 of the babies left for sell.
  4. I'd say stability; ie. constant water temp, food supply, water change (2x daily), and low light. Also, don't spook them (e.g. stick your hand in the tank for cleaning) they start to go crazy (swimming for the lives) then some die afterward. My batch had over 700 eggs, but only about 300 hatch and now only about 70 after 4 months (results from moving them around too much).
  5. I think they will stay "burnt orange" not likely they will turn black.
  6. I have about 70 of these babies total, some are ready to go, some aren't. They vary in size from 1/2" to 1-1/2" they are all from the same batch of egg, roughly 4 months old; only selling the one that are closer to 1" and over. $10 each, 5 for $40 pictures show parents and current babies.
  7. Just Kidding! It's just cool to see how these clownfish forming a fish-ball

    Flowers within the Canyon

yeah, it split few days before
  9. I'll try to describe the settings I use on the camera as best as I could, hope it will help you. 1: set camera into macro mode. 2: turns off the flash, for me flash just bounce off the glass and give glares in the picture. 3: enter "function set" mode and change to manual mode. 4: initially set exposure to 0 (middle), you can change these up or down base on how well lit the object is. 5: set the white balance option to "evaluate white balance", this way you can press the "menu" button and it'll auto adjust the white balancing. 6: "my colors off" 7: for the focus mode leave in "evaluative", you can to switch these around to get the right focusing mode for different pictures. Also, I find that taking pictures at night under your MH lighting helps a lot, give you clearer pictures. In the day light from windows makes the picture not as vibrant, possibly due to reflection from glass. Sometimes the auto focus feature will focus at different spots around the object you're trying to take a picture of, so you'll have to change the angle, position of the camera so that the auto focus feature focuses on the right object. Sometimes adjusting the "focusing mode" (evaluative, center weighted, etc) will help too. Also, I have my picture size set as "M1" 2272x1704, not sure if this option makes a different in picture clarity. Hope this helps, If something is not clear, ask me. One more thing, the lens on these camera take good macro pictures when the object is less 6" away from the lens. Anything further away, it's hard to take good pictures.
  10. interesting; I saw my nass on the glass slithering around and there were several of those egg pouches behind that nass, almost like a trail. 30mins later I checked on that nass again and saw new egg pouches; thus, I came to the conclusion it was nass eggs. I didn't catch the nass in the act of laying those eggs like you did though...
  11. I used a Canon PowerShot SD630, it's one of those pocket camera. It only takes nice macro picture when you put the camera 1-6" away from the lens. Picture was taken in manual mode, to adjust the white balancing.
  12. If I understand it right, I think the one you're seeing is cerith eggs. This link shows an example: http://www.reefcorner.com/SpecimenSheets/cerithSnail.htm
  13. For those that are interested to know and future references, these are Nassarius snail egg capsules.
  14. my sailfin tang ate them all this morning right after I took some picture.
  15. I just notice these weird egg sack on the glass this morning, at least I assumed it is an egg sack. There maybe 10 of them, but my sailfin tang seem to love them. Right after I took pictures of this one, he cleaned all of these off the glass. The sack was attached to the glass and inside seems to be little eggs. I have no clue what it is, if it's even eggs.
  16. I had the white urchin before, it really love coralline, seems like he prefers that algae over other stuff. The "carrying things on its back" was fun to see at first, but gets annoying fast. It became a time consuming task of removing the frag from its back and place it back to original spot.

I have these in my tanks too, I dont know what they are though. I try to remove mine, since they seems to multiple fast, so I assumed it's bad. They have a texture almost like cotton ear swab.

What's the wattage and amperage that are running through those electrical outlets? these cheap timers can't handle very much.

    Timers

http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=148373-207-TM09DHBL&lpage=none This was the one that I use. It seem to turned on/off on time each day, I only used for about 1.5 months so I don't know how long it last. Make sure whatever you're plugging these timers in have constant power, because it needs power to run the clock on it.
