"Keep it out of the light", "don't feed it color enhancing foods", "definitely feed it color enhancing foods" etc.. It is a birth defect. Chances are high that if it is not sterile, that it could produce more offspring. The question is mapping the mutation. We used to do this when we bred corn snakes but that was like 15 years ago. You could predict with almost certainty how many eggs would show the mutation and how many would be "regular". Then the question is do the regular ones breed out mutants later? And on and on. We are considering getting a MUCH less rare gem tang and they are $3,500. Seeing that this is the only ghost tang out there it could have went for much more. When it comes to the super wealthy having a one of a kind fish means more to them than $20,000 or even $50,000. I actually stumbled across this the other day looking for gem tangs.
