Rjohn
After Mark helped me get my tank in order, I started growing coraline algae for the 1st time. Now 3 sides of my tank are fairly covered in pink. The wife liked it better when the walls were more pristine. Question: which is better - keep it or scrape it off? And why?
pbnj
It's not going to have a real impact on the tank....really just a matter of aesthetics.
Rjohn
I have heard mentioned that if you dose "2 part', you don't get coraline build-up. Any truth to that rumour?
Robb in Austin
Ric, Are you talking about a two part dosing for Ca/Alk? If so, I'd say you mis-heard. If anything, it would accelerate the growth by supplying needed ingredients.
+dapettit
I would scape it off. My wife hates it on the glass.
+Lamont
+1 for scraping.
diabeetus
yeah, i dont mind it on the back, and the rocks, but never on the sides or front. i say scrape it
Derekreefer
+1 scrape. I enjoy looking at the tank from the sides so I have been more diligent with my scraping. That being said I think having excess coralline algae will help keep the problem algae at bay. In regards to the 2 part question I use ESV Bionic for CA / KH and I have had a coralline growth explosion in my former acrylic aquarium.
