Derek
In anticipation of getting my new tank I need to brew up a large amount of saltwater, about 100 gallons. I was thinking about getting two large plastic trash cans from Home Depot and brewing in them. I would like to start brewing early this week but do not know how long I can have the saltwater sitting the trash cans. I would have a powerhead or pump in each one. How long could I keep the water in there?
medi
As long as there is adequate circulation I would think you could leave it in there for quite a while. I would keep a cover on it though.
Rjohn
I normally keep mine stewing overnight but on occasion it has run 3 days with no adverse affects.
Derek
Ah cool. I usually have mine going for a couple of days. I just was not sure if I could keep it brewing for about a week.
Timfish
I've kept water in a 55 gal barrel with an airline for several weeks and not had any apparent problems.
teg
I keep fresh saltwater in covered 5 gal bucket for over 1 week without circulation or aeration for over a week. I keep this water for Rotifer water change and the rotifer haven't died yet, so I assuming the water is still good.
