  1. Does anyone out there have experience with these guys? I got one a few days ago and I feel like there is a bomb in my tank!! He hasn't moved much at all. Is this a bad sign?

Has anyone had the dreaded "cuke nuke" happen to their tank?

  2. Neat thread! So many interesting occupations. I am a private violin and piano instructor, and I head a violin program for a private school. I'm also a photographer - www.amandanicholsphotography.smugmug.com . I keep saying I'm going to choose one (I hate all the paperwork), but I can't! I love them both, and with going back and forth things never get boring.

Sometimes my wonderful husband is willing to fund new tank goodies (he co-runs a construction company that specializes in insurance claims www.reliant-construction.com ) His only fault is that he isn't into saltwater (haha not really) but fortunately he's tolerant of my hobby. But that doesn't mean I haven't heard "you want to spend how much on that green blob!?"

  5. I'm trying to figure out the best way to direct the flow in my tank. I'm working with one Koralia 4, one Koralia 3, and my return that pushes a good amount of water, in a 65 gal tank. I currently have a Koralia on each side of the the tank angled toward each other, and the return is coming out of a box in the rear LH corner.

I'm having a hard time finding a good balance. Seems like either my sand gets shifted around alot, the surface becomes too agitated, or my polyps and other corals look like they're in a tornado! Any suggestions? Could I have too much flow going on?

  6. I have a big bucket of chemicals, test kits, supplements (iodine, calcium, strontinum, purple-up, etc) and filter feeder food that came along with a tank I purchased last year. I have no idea how old it is - I'm guessing at least two or three years. Can't find any expiration dates, and I'm leery about using it. But I hate to just toss it - this stuff is expensive! Any thoughts?

  7. Well, I bought it used about 6 months ago so I'm not sure how old it is. However, it was working before I cleaned it. Nothing seems crudded up, but I will soak it in vinegar just in case. I'll try knocking it around a bit - don't know why I haven't tried that already... that's usually my first solution when something isn't working! lol

  8. I noticed my Koralia 4 was running slow so I took it apart and cleaned it out. Now it won't turn on at all! No noise at all. I'm wondering if I dropped a part down the sink, or put it back together wrong. After I took the cover off, there was the impeller and a long rod that fit into a hole on the inside. Am I missing something? Any tips? Thanks in advance! :D
