  1. If you want a quiet, reliable pump that is more in line with your flow needs look at an Eheim 1250 (maybe a 1048 would work with only 3' of head pressure, but a 1250 would be safest bet).
  2. Not much left. Reducing prices to get the last of it gone.
  3. I have a Euroreef 6-2+ for sale that has been doing a great job on my 144 reef for several years. PM if you are interested. I have it posted in my hardware thread as I am parting out the entire setup.
  4. I am. See my livestock thread. http://www.austinreefclub.com/topic/16142-144g-reef-tank-part-out/
  5. No fish for sale. I am moving some over to my FOWLR and I made arrangements for the others before posting. Most of the fish are extremely geriatric having been known to be in captivity 5-8 years, and my main focus was in finding the right setting for them instead of selling.
  6. I will have live rock available via the part out and break down of my reef tank. See thread here: http://www.austinreefclub.com/topic/16142-144g-reef-tank-part-out/ for prices/info. Rock will probably be available this weekend. I need to get a few more corals out of there first.

  9. Here are some pictures. Also forgot a couple of items on the livestock: Branching hammer coral w/ ~20 heads Red/sky blue blastomussa merletti w/ 20+ heads Orange Ricordea Probably some other things I missed too, but the pictures should give an idea. BTW, I know the tank is dirty and I need to go on an aiptasia eradication program, but I haven't had time. That is why I am downsizing.
  10. With the arrival of our third child, and a somewhat lessening addiction to the hobby I have decided to scale back to one tank and have decided to sell my reef tank. Going to try to see if I can sell as a complete system first before deciding if I will part out. It is a 144g Oceanic Half Circle w/ Stainless steel trim. Below are all the details. Hardware Tank: 144g Oceanic Half Circle Stand & Cap: Matching Oceanic stand and cap with Stainless Steel Trim Sump: Oceanic Sump Model 2 Light Fixtures: Current USA Outer Orbit 48" fixture w/ 2X 250W MH + 4 X 54W T5, 18 lunar lights & Finnex 36" fixture w/ 2X39W T5 Pump: Pan World 50 PX-X Powerheads: 1-Tunze Turbelle Stream 6100 + 1 Tunze Turbelle Stream 6000 w/ single controller and Y-adapter (controlling both pumps) Protein Skimmer- Euroreef CS 6-2+ Calcium Reactor- Geo CR618 w/ Milwaukee Systems CO2 regulator w/ solenoid w/ Catalina CO2 bottle Controller- Neptune Systems Aquacontroller Jr. w/ DC8, temperature probe, CO2 probe Chiller- Current USA 1/4hp Prime Chiller Livestock Live Rock- Approximate 200# that has been in the tank for approximately 5+ years Candy Cane Coral (approx 30 heads) Large birdsnest coral (probably 12"x6"x6") Pink cynarina open brain (approx. 6-8" across when expanded) green closed maze brain (approx. 5") purple stylopora large montipora cap (12+" across) orange montipora digitata colonies (2 colonies each w/ over 6" of growth) tri-color acropora valida blue acro (quite large colony is probably 6"x3"x3") (this might be blue tort, got small 1" frag from Brian Jackson 3 or 4 years ago) assorted other acroporas some zoos xtra large derasa clam (12+") large fiji yellow leather colony The fish are the only thing that I may part out, as I have had them for a long time and want to make sure that they go to experienced and safe homes. There is currently one geriatric yellow tang and one geriatric blue tang in the tank each over 6 years old, and showing some signs of their age. I need a good home for these and if the buyer is just starting in the hobby, may want to rehome them first at no cost to someone who is willing to take care of them. Also in the tank is a yellowbelly damsel (also been in the tank for 5+ years, no aggression) & mating pair of oscellaris clownfish that have been in the tank for 5+ years. They lay eggs every couple of weeks and must be kept together and go to an experienced home. I will also include a full line of Seachem supplements and fresh media for the calcium reactor. Will take some pictures and post tonight. Asking $4500. Feel free to PM or call my cell 512-925-3574 w/ any questions or offers.
  11. The ich has been defeated and the FOWLR is in recovery. Still trying to settle in and have some cyano that hopefully will disappear after several more water changes and just some time of acclimating. The purple tang battled and has made a full recovery. The final butcher's bill on the ich attack was my lemonpeel angel, majestic angel, harlequin tuskfish, and pair of saddleback butterflyfish. The angels and tuskfish had been in the tank for 3+ years and were fully mature so their loss will be felt. It probably was too much to hope that we could move two tanks without any losses and I am thankful for the survival of my most prized inhabitants (pair of crosshatch triggers and 12" queen angel). Now I am going to work to restore both tanks to their greatest potential. Once they are looking right, I hope to host a meeting and have everybody out to see them in their new setting. BTW- I am very happy with some of my new equipment that I switched out in the tank move. The old components were great, but a little overkill for the tank. The reeflo Orca skimmer is really rocking and pulls a lot of nice thick skimmate out of the tank. The Dart Supergold is incredibly quiet and does a fine job handling the return alone. A nice thing when the loudest part of the entire setup is the canopy fans.
  12. I have a lot of Yellow Fiji Leather, including a 2" piece that needs to go and maybe could even work out something on a bigger piece. Let me take some pics tonight and send to you to see what you think. Since you are in S. Austin, if you are interested maybe you can just come by and decide what you want.
  13. Just when I was going to post an entry on the success of moving both tanks with no livestock loss, it struck. We moved the tanks over the 4th of July Weekend to our new home with the help of Sea Clearly (Misti) and Fishworks (John Y.). The fish survived 3-4 days of living in Rubbermaid stock tanks for the breakdown and setup process. Reworked the FOWLR setup quite a bit to avoid plumbing through walls and was very happy with the new setup. Brought the fish over and they all seemed happy and were eating well. I had not suffered any fish loss (or seen any ich in tanks) for over two years at the time and most of my fish had been in the tanks for 3+ years. Some fish found new homes as we planned to change up the stocking plan for the tanks, but I didn't add any new livestock to the tanks as I wanted to let everything settle back in first. About two weeks ago (nearly 30 days after the move) I noticed the first spots on a Barred Rabbitfish in the FOWLR. Made sure to get the UV sterilizer up and running and hoped for the best, as all the fish were fat and healthy, and quarantine and copper was not an option given the size and number of the fish in the system. Continued to feed regularly with garlic and selcon additives. Spots soon spread to the Lemonpeel Angel and in a couple of days he had passed, but the Rabbitfish was looking better so I remained hopeful. Then last week it took a turn for the worst. The Majestic Angel started showing spots and then progressed to stop eating. I figured his days were numbered. During his slow decline one of the Saddleback butterflyfish got some spots and was gone within 36 hours of first symptoms and the Majestic passed the next day. (Thursday). By this time the purple tang looked well salted as well. Luckily the pair of crosshatch triggers and the queen angel were healthy and clean. Turn the page to this week. The purple tang was still fighting, barely, and eating habits had started to falter. I hoped he would pull through, but was not optimistic. Monday I noticed the other saddleback butterflyfish and harlequin tusk had started to show symptoms. By last night the were both gone, but purple tang is showing improvement and appetite was back. Strangely the Rabbitfish that started this whole epidemic has no been symptom free and happy for over a week. As of today, the purple tang is the only fish showing any symptoms and I hope that we are about to close the door on this. In 5+ years in the hobby I have only gone through this once before. At least that time I could trace it to the addition of a Powder Blue Tang. No addition this time, so I have to assume that it came along with some of the new substrate we put in the tanks when we moved them, and that the stress of the move had the fish vulnerable. My goal at this point is to get my remaining fish through (especially the pair of nearly irreplaceable crosshatch triggers) and rebuild. I wanted to change up the stocking a little, though this isn't the way I intended to go about it. On the other hand, the aquatic nursing home know as my reef tank (most recently added fish was in August of 2006) has done well with no signs of sickness in its geriatric population.
  14. I am in Elliott Ranch. Down on the Southwest side of town off of Hwy. 1626 (exit 225 off of I-35). Let me know if you want to come by and take a look at it. Will be around this weekend and in the evenings on weekdays.
  15. Just couldn't fit the refugium into the new setup for the FOWLR. It has two chambers and would also work great as a sump. It is 45x20x17. Asking $50 OBO.
  16. Go with the biggest sump that you can reasonably fit. The extra system capacity will help stabilize the system and you will be amazed over time how much sump space you use.
  17. Recently moved my tanks and the new setup on the FOWLR didn't require as much pump as the old setup did (less head feet). Also had less space to work with as I didn't drill through the wall to the garage as had been the case in previous home. Therefore, I took out the Barracuda and went with a SuperDart Gold. The Barracuda still works great, though seal is a little tight and sometimes it needs a screwdriver turn to startup after poweroff (manufacturer says this is fine/can be normal). Asking $175 OBO. Flow info/tables can be found here: http://www.reeflopumps.com/flowbiasedpumps.html
  18. Before you start adding fish I would really plan out what you ultimately want to keep in the tank. For a number of fish the order that you add them to the tank may be important to avoid issues of aggression. Also, as different fish can create considerably different bioloads even if they are similar in size. If you plan ahead you can set your priorities so you don't run into the situation of really wanting a fish, but not being able to add it due to others you already have in the tank. How many fish is going to be tank specific, given the equipment that you use and the bioloads and needs of the species that you pick. Once you have a plan on what equipment you will use and a list of potential occupants I think that you will find that a number of very experienced people on this site can give some good and specific feedback.
  19. Added Polleni Grouper (thought I had a home for him, but it fell through) and adjusted some prices.
  20. Either evening this weekend will work or Monday-Wednesday between 6-9. By Thursday night the reef tank will be broken down to Rubbermaid stock tank.
  21. Halides are off for the night. Colors aren't coming out right, but this is my best shot. Hammer w/ flash Hammer Digitata Blue acro to right, stylo in middle
  22. Of which one? I will try to take pics shortly.
  23. Moving both my 144 gallon reef tank and 240 FOWLR next week as part of a house move. Have decided to part with certain livestock and will have lots of coral frags. The reef tank has been set up for about five years so some colonies have gotten very overgrown. All of the fish have been with me for over two years and are very healthy. I take horrible pics, here is my best shot at the fish. FOWLR, where angelfish and grouper reside will be broken down on July 2. Fish will be in stock tanks after tank breakdown through the weekend. After that they will likely be taken to LFS or placed with maintenance contractors for their accounts. 4" Neon dottyback= $30-pending 6-7" Majestic Angelfish (show quality size and coloring)= $100 7" Polleni Grouper= $250 3" female Ocellaris clownfish= $20-pending Large (nearly 1' diameter) Yellow Fiji Leather= $75 (this coral has been in tank for five years)-pending Branching Hammer coral (8-9 heads)= $45 Frags Blue acro- $20 for 1-2" frag Purple stylopora $10-20 based on size of frag red cap- $5 for 3"X3" section tri-color valida- $10 for 1-2" frag orange digitata- $5 for 2-3" frag
  24. I was happy to help and just glad that our community will have you back. I really like the aquascaping and wouldn't do anything differently with it as I look at it now. I can not see really well from the pics, but one mistake I made in my FOWLR was having the rock too close to the side glass that made cleaning the glass difficult. As long as you can magnet and scrape easy enough I like the way it looks. One suggestion I have, that probably fits into the category of either: (1) I should have said it sooner; or (2) you already decided it is not an option; is the location of the chiller. I have my chiller for the reef tank in the tank room similar to how yours is currently positioned. It draws constant complaints from my wife for adding heat to the room when it is running. It looks like you have easy access outside from the tank location and it might be worth plumbing through to keep it outside. For my FOWLR the chiller is in the garage and that has added to household accord. Can't wait to see the setup in person as you start stocking the tank. Talk to you soon.
  25. I like the revised aquascaping. Having it clear out in the middle makes it look more natural to me and provides variation. Can't wait to see it once you start putting some corals in there.
