  3. take what you will from this: fact, the 2 above posts state that they have lower lighting, comparatively, ie t-12's and PC's; coralline likes lower light situations

if you want coralline to grow, you simply have to have some to begin with, and wait, patience and stability are the keys

if you have coralline and do not want it, sorry, you are out of luck, you can scrape it off your tanks sides, front and back, but not off the rocks

That is what i have always heard.Coraline likes lower light.

I've only had Coralline in high lighting, and I've only heard that they like higher light. But I've also heard that there are different kinds of Coralline. However, the purple Coralline is a mostly found in high lighting (based on my experiences and what I've heard).

  4. So I just recieved a pink birds nest colony and it is not adjusting well at all. Its had a lot of bleaching and I think it might be sick. There is a lot of brown slime. The tank it came from had 400w and I have 250w. all my other corals are thriving??? I put it infront of high water flow to get rid of the gunk on it and fragged a bunch of it out that still looks healthy. Anyone have suggestions? ( I'm affraid I can not get pictures)

Don't put it under direct flow. Place it in the sand bed to adjust it to the lights. Your light is weaker in wattage, but your bulb might be a lower degree bulb (less blue).

  5. Hi everyone. Just found this site and am SO happy to have an Austin site to visit. I have had my sw set up for about 3 months now, and am loving it. Having to start over with everything except my fish now. A crab destroyed all my polyps, mushrooms and sponge. He's long gone :) Also just lost both of my neat anemones after I had to make an emergency out of town visit for family. Left the light on for 2 1/2 days. Anyhow I look forward to exploring this site and meeting new people.

Welcome to the club Melissa! :D

  6. This may not be what you're looking for, but I prefer not to use crabs.

I first got the idea of not using hermits or any other sort of crab after seeing what they can do to fish, snails, and knocking down corals.

There is quite a selection of cleaner snails and slugs and the oh-so-creepy Sea Hare. Far less violent to other invertebrates in your tank, and they're kinda cool to watch! Not to mention the fact that they can clean algae so fast you, and your fish would be doing back flips.

  7. High Ca can cause a large decrease in Mg and KH. They sort of balance each other out. When one is high, the other is low.

It is best to keep your Ca at 400-440 ppm.

Also, high Ca can cause "snow" in your tank. This "snow" is caused by Calcium being precipitated in the water column.

  8. Hey everyone. I'm cleaning out and making way for the new!

I'm selling this large rock filled with 7 (so far) different species of Zoanthids. I'll be asking what I paid for it when there was only about 10 polyps on it, $40.

    Pictures:

Also, I'm selling a frag of the "Pink Stardust Ladies," which also might be Hawaiian People Eaters OR the might be ATL's Neptune Palys.

They're pretty neat. I bought a frag with 2 polyps for $25 and there are about 8 or 9 now. I'd like $35 for all of them.

I don't have any pictures of mine but here are some for reference:

Mine are more on the blue side, but when I got them they looked like this. ^

    Thanks,

    Brooks
