  1. Im am going to be moving to el paso and will be taking my tank with me. Its only a 20gal tank with 2 fish but has 20 coral and a clam in it. So what do you all think the best way to do this. Im going to keep about 4in of water in the tank to keep the sand alive. And the fish im going to put in a 5 gal bucket with some of the live rock. not sure how to move the corals and clam. Also are there any portable heaters?? I will do the drive in one day so thats one good point. Or is this just a bad idea. Or if i could would it be better to have some one hold the live stock and fedex the to me After i get the tank runing in a day or 2 after i get there??
  2. i have the sundial lighting setup on my 20gal. it a nice quality setup by you are going to want new bulbs the factory bulbs a junk. After looking at the price of around $200 plus for the lights than another $80 for the you are at $ almost $300. So for an extra $40 you can get the 4x24 light fixture from AIT. Witch comes with the best bulbs and reflectors you can get. ATI 4x24
  3. any one ever go on any group rides (motorcycle) in the austin area, Or any ducati riders out there??
  4. I have the current sundial t5 set up. Im very happy with it. The price was right but the bulbs that come with it a junk. I changed them out for giesemann bulbs. They are the best t5 bulbs you can get locally. Next time I change bulbs im going to go with AIT bulbs. Dont get me wrong the giesemann bulbs look very nice and aquatek has the hole line up and a display so you can see what the bulbs look like when on. I would stay away from the pure actinic, the par output on them is very low
  5. I have a mixed tanks with sps and lps. I also have a crocea clam that is doing very well. ALl I have had was the t5 lighting.
  6. I would not change all the bulbs at ones. I would do one or 2 a week, and let the coral in the tank adjust to the new lights and the new spectrum the lights are putting out.
  7. ALl done with my cannon d10 on vacation
  8. Any one have some nice looking mush rooms for a good price????
  9. kinda the same but my plate coral ate a mushroom. Pooped it out 2 days later. The mushroom was a lot smaller but still green and look like its going to live I saw the green mushroom that got eaten on the sand the other day and it looked very good for being eaten. I also now it was the same mushroom because its the only green one it the tank
  10. are you sure it wasnt the other way around??? wont eat corals but will eat inverts?
  11. You could talk to the manufacturer, Most tanks are only tempered on the bottom. You could still make overflows on the back. Take a look at the display tank at Fish Business. My next tank will have over flows like his. Looks much nicer and takes up way less room in the tank
  12. I got the xenia for free and was the first frag i put in this tank and im just not sure how and whats a good location to make the cut, or how to get it to stick to a new rock
  13. Im not sure what kind i gat but in dose not spread it just gets bigger and BIGGER from this to this I would love to frag some off just not sure how to do it in the tank
  14. i would get the one that has the secondary switch
  15. auto top of does make one that works well and you can get the one that has 2 switch to be on the safe side. It is a home made kit you can tell when you get it. Its not like the ones made by the big mane brand companies, but it works very well and is priced right.
  16. I picked up a fish that he had that was on the rare side and $$ and wanted to see it eat (no big deal right ?) Thats the start of the story. I have spent a few hours in the store the past phew day and he (that being the owner) was telling me how the 2 green mandarinfish were eating frozen food. Well I didnt want to call him out about that kinda fish never eating prepared food, so I didnt. But when he was feeding the fish I was getting he also feed a few of the other tanks and one of them had one of the green mandarinfish in it. And let me tell you. I watched this fish eat the frozen food. So If you have wanted one of these fish but was always afraid of it not eating n your tank, the one i saw was for a fact eating frozen food.
  17. Who would he need to cantact to be added. Im going back up there to order my last fish. He was also one of the few owners that would really try to get the fish I wanted
  18. Not sure if this is a repost or not but, I stopped by Fish business. Its an only slat water fish store. I talked to to the owner for about 2 hours tonight, and he seems to be a really nice guy that actually has a true love for the fish that he sells. Did I mention he is SALTWATER ONLY. The store is new and very clean. He has been there only a few weeks and has a very nice selection of fish. He is still setting up his coral tanks so none at this time. What I did like was not one dead fish in the store. I have been to all the big LFS and always see 1 or 2 dead fish in the store. None in his. He spent a good bit of time talking to me about the algae problem Im having. He didnt even try to sell me anything just some good advice imo. You all should go check him out. This is his contact info Fishy Business 11005 Burnet Rd Austin, TX 78758 Map (512) 284-8090
