  1. Thats a nice sump! If you plan to set it up like you have it in the pic then its not going to work. The return pump is going to need to be in the center chamber. Im not sure what tank you are setting up, but if it has a single overflow you will need to "T" of the overflow and run 1 pipe to each side of the sump with a ball valve on each tube. The chamber on the far right will be your fuge. The chamber on your left is setup right. The chamber in the center will be the return pump chamber. The ball valve will allow you to control how much water runs through the fuge. Im not sure If Im making this clear, sorry its easier to be there and explain.

I just look at the pic again and it looks like the the chamber on the far right has a gap at the bottom of the baffle? If it does then My whole post is a waist! LOL! Im not sure why they would have done that. You will have to keep it the way you have it and the fuge will be the center and TINY! The holes at the top of the last chamber would also be pointless! Im confused now! LMFAO!

Dustin lol I was wondering what the heck you were talkin about because thats how my sump is and it works, but i see what you were confused about now.

  2. Hey guys I am FINALLY DONE!!!!

Thank you for all the help Dustin... After 3 broken pieces of glass I decided to just get another tank. All of the broken glass really set me back on getting this tank complete, but it is done. My wife is very happy her office is back in working order and not a big mess anymore. I still have to move my corals to this tank but I am testing it out with a few pieces 1st before i put them all in.

I will have pictures up soon of the rest of the build and the final results. Thank you for following this LONG drawn out build.

  3. I am sorry about not answering your question... I got the hole saws from azcummins, The glass isnt tempered we drilled 8 holes in the first one and then decided to use a vortec instead of going with the closed loop.

where did u get the drill bit to drill glass at if i may ask, and i assume its tempered glass?
  4. pm sent

Im looking to get rid of some live rock. Its not loaded with coraline (a few pieces are), but its got good starting patches. Fully of pods, worms, mini stars. One piece has 3 zoas on it if anyones interested too. Want 25$ or a trade.
  5. LOL ok the guy that i was in contact there at DA was very helpful with all of my concerns, so they should get you all squared away. They have great customer service.

Just venting guys. I'll be sending it to DA for repair. It's doing alot of weird stuff!
  6. lol ... They are little clear shrimp and they reproduce pretty fast in the refugium.

Hm. I've never seen live mysis in a LFS here, but then again, I'm not detail oriented as evidenced by the above!
  7. I dont need brine shrimp, Im looking for mysis and pods so I can reseed my fuge. I've been keeping a leopard wrasse anf 2 clowns in my fuge and they have eaten all of my pods.

As far as I know, the LFS are the only ones who have live brine around here.
  8. I am in desperate need of live mysis and or pods for my refugiums. If anyone can help please let me know 254-285-1951 or pm me. Thank you

  9. There is a guy selling a 24 gpd RO DI

"24 GPD RO/DI system for sale. The charcoal, micron and deion filters were replaced last month. The membrane has been backflushed every month and should last for quite a while. 50.00 for the entire system."254-939-6253

Cmon, anyone? If you get both, you could have a combonation of 150watts. Though idk how well that would work... Still, i dont need one with a high output, i just need one. my water levels dropping fast
  10. Kaceyj is right, if you use the sponge you will need to clean or replace regularly as they can turn into nitrate factories. :| dont ask me how I know this. I couldnt see the pic of your sump so i cant really comment on the microbubbles.

  11. I would be interested in it too if you want to get rid of it.

I havnt hooked mine up to the computer but I have prettymuch given up on my ph probe. My friend has one and he has a webcam and everything hooked up on his. I dont know, I wish i could help.

Ok, I about to pitch this thing. Can't get the pH probe to calibrate. Work all day yesterday with DA and they decided it was the probe. Now I can get the thing to talk to my computer. It will conncet for a second then say can find connection.

Can anyone help with the computer issue?

  12. The reason I say overflow, fuge, then return is because all of the bubbles if not caught in the bubble trap should be caught in the fuge. With this set up you have all of your water flowing through your fuge before it gets back to your main system, and the other reason I recomend this and this is just my opinion.... I have 2 tanks set up in my house 1 with the microbubble nightmare and the other is set up as described 1st in this post. I have zero bubbles in that tank. Come by sometime if ever in killeen and check out the results. I'm not saying this is the only way, just that this is the way that i have seen work best for me.

I'm having the same issue, but I don't think we're seeing eye to eye. :|

I also don't see why overflow, refuguim then return would be better. The way I see it, it would actually be worse.

Having everything running through the overflow, then the fuge, then to the return would actually mean you have the full volume of water running over one baffle. This seems to me that it would lead to more bubbles in the return.

By splitting it you are running over two baffles which should mean a lower volume of water running over each.

For me I simply think it's a matter of how far I'm letting the volume of water that's coming out of the bubble trap drop. I think I need to raise the level in my return another inch or so.

  13. This is the same problem I'm having.

It's not bubbles getting through the bubble trap. It's bubbles created by the water falling into the return...

Exactly! I have another sump on my 40 gal and it runs as smooth as can be with NO bubbles, and it has the overflow to the refugium to the return.

I will never have that design in a sump again. I'm glad someone can see eye to eye with me on this lol

  14. This is just my opinion.... If your sump isn't already built I would change the plans. My sump is built the same way as you describe and the way that both spill into the return creates alot of microbubbles, I would have the overflow, fuge, then return. Make sure you have plenty of room for your skimmer in your overflow. I am not trying to knock your idea but that is the problem im facing right now with that same design. Good luck
