Well, after trying to catch him all day yesterday, he has cooled out. Maybe it was some kind of mating thing. They have been hanging close to each other all morning today. Man, I thought he was going to kill her the other day. Weird. Her dorsal fin is frayed and a lot shorter than it was, but otherwise she is ok. I guess I will let them be for now. Cant seem to catch them anyways.

I think it is the same as far as male and female go. I bet if you had 2 males you would know it by know. They are really hard to tell apart. Not sure if I can really tell, but the males have a slightly different jawline, I guess because they are mouth brooders.

They dont get real big, but have big mouths. I have heard that they will eat some of the smaller shrimp we keep, so I would imagine they wouldnt have a problem eating small gobies.

thanks for all the advice. I am still trying the 2 net way with no luck. I am pretty sure that aquatek usually gets the captive bed. There is a big difference in how the 2 cardinals behave, one being from the dome. I am pretty sure theirs are WC. They are pretty easy to breed, but my male (WC) has eaten the last few batches. You would love them Andrew, I think. They would probably eat your panda and shrimp gobies though.

That might work, as long as its another female..I think. I know that 2 males will quickly kill each other.

my male bangaii turned on the female and she is looking rough. Not sure why, nothing has changed in a while. He was wild caught I am pretty sure, and she wasnt. He has always been a little wierd, but the female is my favorite fish. Always cool and tame. I just tore down half my tank trying to catch one of them but failed. Used a flashlight after dark, but I have a lot of stuff in there. Any suggestions on catching them, or possibly a way to chill him out?

I would start it low Dena with the 250. I started mine at the bottom and slowly moved it up about 11 inches form my 250 where its happy. Its the hot lava. I have heard that some of the green and blue colored ones like even less.

I go back and forth with feeding my lps and zoas reef roids. I think I get better growth when I do, but then I start worrying about my water quality. There is no doubt that I get way better growth on lps and sps with 2-part dosing. I have fun feeding them roids though. Its cool to see everything open up their tentacles and feed. I also feed mysis to everything that will eat them occasionally. My trumpets go crazy when I do this.

When I am busy and trying to buy or sell something, it can get hard to keep track. But I usually call to confirm before I come. If it gets sold before then I assume that it is all fair game. If someone explains to me that they have the money, just need to get here after work, I list it pending and wait for them. If they dont make it here when they said they would be here, it gos up for sale, and I call back first in line. It keeps it simple and easy for me. ARC is awesome for its buying and selling forum alone. A great way to meet people and get into the hobby. Thanks all.

Man, if your ammonia is at .25, I would be doing heavy water changes every day until they are at 0. I am thinking that you may have stirred up the sand bed? I did that a while back and started a cycle. I did daily 25% changes until it was gone. Ammonia is deadly in your tank. I lost a few fish during mine.

I think the nem is doing fine, we talked him into selling it because he doesnt have enough light. He just got it though. It looks really healthy for just being added to his tank to me. If I had the room, I would scoop it up in a heartbeat.
