  1. Hello everybody! I am not really new here or to austin but still fresh. Moved here in december of last year and what a crazy year it was.

Hope to share what is going n with my tank and learn a few things :D

A few months ago something on this site was getting rid of a 70g tall tank with stand for 100$. Went to check it out and while the tank/stand it self was not the nicest still ended up picking it up due to extras and potential.

Here are some of the things it came with.

to me the rock alone was worth the cost. After some cleaning, sanding, and painting of the stand this is what we had.

i tried really hard to get some minor scratches out of the glass but it was just not worth it as the results were.......well there was none. So i decided i would buy i new tank, went and ordered a 70g tall deep sea tank and i must say im in love. Great tank! After cleaning the rocks ordering a bunch of things i finally got it set up.

so this is kinda where i am at right now, i just ordered another clip for my tunze 6045 and ordered a 6085 in hopes it would not be to much flow. I have heard mixed things but we shall see. Also i am having a really hard time with lighting, I just dont know. I would really like to get a t5 fixture with fans to keep temp and cost down. You just hear some many different things about them all, if you guys/gals have any input on the lights please let me know.

Trying to keep all kinds of coral mostly soft, lps, and a few easier sps

    thanks for looking!

  2. I keep my 125 at 79. I do this using Computer fans I have installed in my canopy. They are controlled by my Reef Keeper 2 to come on at 79.4 and turn off at 79.2. My heater comes on at 78.9. That way my tank always stays within a 1 degree swing.

dont you think it would be better to have a bigger swing than that? i mean if you can control it wouldnt it be better for the coral and fish? I have not put a lot of thought into this but thinking about recreating an ecosystem and how much ocean water might fluctuate during even giving day it might help the fish and the coral in case there was a biggr swing one day. almost like building up an immune system

Maybe we should discuss this a little more because now i am really curious

  7. I've had it. The carpet anemone has eaten it's last fish.

We bought a leopard wrasse last week. It really adapted to the tank. After a couple of feeding it started to eat frozen food. It was swimming around the tank eating stuff off the rocks and glass having a good ole time. Never hide was a real joy to watch.

Yesterday while I was feeding I couldn't find her. I even moved the rock around to make sure she wasn't hiding. I also checked the floor and inside the stand to make sure she hadn't jumped out. I also noticed the nem was folded closed. Earlier this year it ate our clown, too!

Robin is going to be very upset when she gets back from Dayton!

It goes to the LFS today. . .

    Dang it!

is this a common problem for most people? also what kinda of carpet anemone was it?
