  1. they can be fun, but no fish and lots of water changes LOTS!!!!!!!!
  2. i say go with the nano wave box, you can get flow to your whole tank that way. If you happen to need a little more flow its real easy to add a power head.
  3. i would like five please can pick up tomorrow or later today maybe
  4. i once saw a site where a guy did something like that but for MH lighting. The tank was split in two and you could choose what bulb you wanted to see, so you could see them side by side. It was really neat but I cant find it anywhere, if somebody out there knows please chime in.
  5. please hold 5 for me if you can, i might be able to get them today my number is 512.415.6731 or pm me with yours thanks jason
  6. oh forgot to add make sure your rocks dont smell like bleach, mine didnt smell anymore after the first rinse but i didnt another just to make sure. dang it i forgot this also and this is really important. if you DO NOT KNOW THE SOURCE of where or what tank this rock came from you might need to start by soaking for a week and testing for copper. If you do find copper you can not use this rock in saltwater tanks, copper will leech out of those rocks forever and kill many things.
  7. there are so many thing that could have been on that rock when it "died" that you do not want anywhere near your tank. Using bleach will help to rid any left overs that could be harsh on your tank, also taking a brush and scrubbing it is a must along with blasting the crap out of it with a hose. Ok here is what I did. i lay all rock in my driveway and blast with hose for a long time put rock in in container with bleach water, mine was a 20 tub with one full big bottle of bleach and the rest water. made sure I had power heads in tub to circulate water. did this for about 5 days to a week. took rocks out and lay in driveway again and blast with water. FOR A LONG TIME. Put rocks back in tub but this time with only ro water and power heads. Let sit for a week. take rock put in driveway and blast with water. for a long time. Put rocks back in tub with ro and power heads, let sit for another week. by this time I was ready to put into my new tank, I took rocks out of water and put them into the new tank with a few pieces of live rock to seed. Waited a few months and then adding the first coral. I would always stay on the safe side when it comes to setting up your tank. Doing it right from the start can save you lots o monies : )
  8. if it really is for only one hour I would not worry about it at all. But I just had an idea! Dont turn your light on at all that day, and maybe only run your return. Should help with heat issues and its always good to do once in a while anyway
  9. i like to soak the rock a a bleach water combo for a few days, then dump water and do that one more time. After the second bleach stage I run the rock in r/o once or twice to rid of an bleach. If you would like to add it to a tank that is already running then you will need to cycle the rock, could take a month or two.
  10. only one way to find out now, hope they put cool packs in there for you guys. let me know how it turns out
  11. just as the title says I am looking for a 40g breeder tank with no scratches. It can also be another tank that is 36" long as long as it not taller than the breeder. please send me a pm if you have anything of even if you see something on craigslist. thanks jason
  12. wow that Halloween Milli is awesome, let me know if you have any more
  13. honestly it sounds to me like your tank has not cycled yet. Ammonia and diatoms are what you see during your cycling period. The emperor could be the cause for some nitrate issues down the road but i dont think it should be a problem at the moment. I would try to do at LEAST 5 gallon water changes every week till the tank becomes stable (good 6 months or so). Now after that depending what corals you would like to keep you can keep it the same or do them less. I also have some nice easy ideas for your sump but we can talk about that this weekend. hope it helps.
  14. wait till you guys get to see his colony of these : D
  15. OH NO!!!!! your tanks done buddy, better start taking it down. But for real I would just do weekly water changes (should try to be done anyway). If not cutting back on light for a few days can help.
  16. depending on where you are at me or my friend might be able to help. We are not a service but if you need any help just send me a pm.
  17. Try one of the sponsors on this site Aquadome, aquatek, and rivercity are all awesome places with really great staff.
  18. some people run it opposite there daylights and some people keep it on all the time. I dont really think there is a right or wrong answer to this one.
  19. wow those are awesome, any chance i could trade a frag for some photos?
  20. yes ALWAYS acclimate new corals to light. Running actinic only the first day is also always a good idea.
  21. holy doodoo that was amazing!!!!
  22. as for your sump i think it really depends on what you want to keep in your tank. It can be something as simple as just a skimmer and a fuge or a lot more complex. You have any idea what types of coral you would like to keep? I have a 6x39 t-5 over a 25" tall tank and all my coral at the bottom seem to get a good amount of light, they are growing. But you will just have to see what you like the best, maybe ask to visit to locals tanks to get an idea of how they have there tanks set up.
  23. thats awesome mama!!! did they just happen to have more? or did somebody not show up?
  24. mine are open and looking really awesome, i wish i had some super gule to mount them on a plug but i guess that will have to wait. hopefully these will grow out kinda fast and we can get some frags out to those of you who missed out.
  25. why the shipping? are you not in austin?
