I would think that something along these lines, just to keep the sump off the floor itself may be helpful. You could use a piece of plexi w/ a foam mat on top for pressure leveling/sound. I've thought of that, and I debate what good doing anything less than completely starting over does overall. Still a bit conflicted. Right now, I have 2 issues: 1) The algae, which I think I can really knock down w/ the bleach/acid, especially if I can do a large % of my overall rock. 2) Whatever is killing all my corals, which I **think** may have been some kind of metal leeching into my tank through one of my jerry-rigged setups. But that is also a WAG.

Why is that? edit to add: The reason I was thinking of acid is to truly get anything growing on the rock, vaporized. I feel like bleach will kill everything, but it isn't going to eat it away and leave clean rock. Am I off on that assumption?

Man, that WO16 is great stuff! I wish I'd have known about it when I first got this sump setup and used WO4 to make sure the joints were sealed. Probably wouldn't have had this issue! Thanks for the info - should have this back online over the weekend.

Just finished up (another) fluconazole treatment, and this one did absolutely nothing. Sump is fixed (fingers crossed) and getting water tested today, so next step is getting that put back in, then using the 40gal as a holding tank for the fish while I pull all the live rock, separate the corals I want to keep and see what I can do w/ the rest of the rock. Debating on whether to put in a separate bin w/ no light to let everything die off, or go full nuke and treat w/ acid and start over. Biggest issue is this red, sheet like algae:

Gonna be doing some work and updating this thread a bit, but this is a super sad update....my oldest critter looks to be on it's last legs...errr, tentacles... I've had this starfish for maybe 15yrs now? He was out and about yesterday and I noticed that his body is almost entirely gone - to the point where you can see holes right through him. He had scurried back across the tank not 30min later, so he's still functional today, but that can't be good...

Went to Regal Plastics at lunch yesterday. They were out of the small WO4 and wanted $45+ for what I drove home and spent $27 on w/ Amazon. Really want to support local businesses, but it's hard when they don't have their act together, and simply aren't price competitive.

Anyone know if HD or Lowe's carries 4 or 16? Looking online and not seeing anything. Anyone else in Austin that might?

It was filled way over normal - w/i an inch of the top, the blue tape marks the top/bottom normal water line. The seam where the leaks doesn't look appreciably different than the rest of the joints - none of them look particularly clean and rock solid. Tank is pretty clean overall. Might work on it a bit today if my local Ace has Weld-On 4. Going to test the refugium next, although I doubt that's where it was coming from. Heck, will probably just re-weld all the seams on that one before testing at all.

Found leaks, but not sure this is right. Was spilling so much more last week. These are after like 20+ min.

Roger that. Going to start cleaning it here in a bit, get it all dry, and then my plan is to lay down a towel, some tissue paper over that since it will show up water immediately, and then fill it back up till I see the leak.

That was my first thought as well (great minds and all that...), but there's just not room for that size sump in my stand. There's no clearance at all from the top of the sump to the bottom of the stand.

My sump has had a pinhole leak for a couple of months, and because I am lazy, and it seemed like a huge thing to fix, I let it go. Thursday night, as I fed the tank, my arm brushed up against the towels on the shelf, and they were soaked. The leak was no longer pinhole, but not gushing either. Took a couple of towel changes through the night, but was able to make it to 9am opening of Petco to buy a 40 breeder to use as an emergency sump. (fun side note: I have a 20 long I probably could have used, but that didn't occur to me until today) My plan is to clean out the acrylic sump and refugium, do a test to see if I can find the leak, and then apply WeldOn 4 liberally to all seams. Is that a good plan long term? I'm thinking not really, because I did that when I got it, and it failed (3yrs though). Short of "buy a new sump, dummy", what suggestions might you offer to repair it?

This little 🤬🤬!! Finally got tired of the overflow and swam himself back into the display tank overnight. sigh...

Man...I literally *just* released him back into the tank because I felt terrible about keeping him in jail for so long. Here in the next couple of weeks I'll be doing a big breakdown of the tank and pulling all of the fish out and can grab him again then. Will message you when I do.
