  1. Okay guys/gals. I have been trying to figure out what is going on here. I have a post on RC with a few suggestions but wanted to see if anyone has other opinions. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.p...hlight=coraline I hope this does not violate the rules of the board by posting a link. If anyone has other suggestions, please let me know. From when this was posted, there has been no growth on the rocks/glass. James
  2. WOW! Sometime I wish I could do that when my wife gets on nerves. :-)
  3. That is nice. Is this for the 220G? The link did not work.
  4. I should be able to help. If not, I can supply a large Brute can with lid and a few tubs. I also have 4 5G water jugs that you can use. I also have a truck and can haul some things if needed. Just PM me if you need anything and I will do my best to help out. James
  5. Does the Oceanic sump have any leaks? Also, is it drilled for an external return? If its holding water, I will take it.
  6. Right now they are saying we could have winds betweem 40 and 50 mph in Austin. Who knows. There is no way to say exactly where it will go. Hope for the best, and stock up on beer for the weekend.
  7. So what is everyone doing to prepare for Ike? The forcast keeps moving the storm east of Austin but I wonder what everyone is doing to prepare. Just curious...What about the tanks and the family? Hope everyone stays safe and we get some rain for the yard! James

    60'' VHO Bulbs

Anyone know of a local store that carries VHO bulbs? I am looking for a few (2,maybe 4) bulbs. I can get them online for about $26-$33 each, plus shipping. If anyone knows where I can get them locally that would be great! James

    Sea Salt

I started out using Oceanic salt but I was getting bad calcium percipitation on the glass. I could never get my Mg high enough to prevent that. Now, I am a Red Sea Pro guy. Have had no problem since the switch.

    Hi

Welcome to the club! There are a bunch of really smart folks on here that should be able to answer most, if not all, of your questions. Ask away! Also, post the specs on your setup so everyone knows what you just got. James
  11. Thanks everyone. Time to start comparing price and features.
  12. I know some of you have really nice cameras, and I want one too. Well, maybe not as nice as some but I want to get an DSLR that is good and fairly cheap. I cannot see spending $1000 on a camera at this time. Does anyone have a suggestion on something pretty inexpensive that will allow me to buy additional lenses and such? I would like to stay below $600, if I can. James
  13. Thats perfect. I am looking at a few weeks out. I want to make sure the cycle is done before I add and good sand. I dont know how much of a cycle I will have since the rock (which came from you, thanks again) still had a little life on it.
  14. I had to break my tank down about a month ago due to a water leak that flooded half of my front room. In doing that, I lost most, if not all, my good sand. In the coming weeks, I would like to see if anyone would be willing to donate a cup of their sand to help get my dead sand back in shape. I am not ready yet, the tank has only been running for a week now and I want to wait till after the cycle. If possible, I would like to get a cup from as many people that are willing to help. I will gladly pay a reasonable price for each cup, if necessary. Please PM me if you can spare a cup of sand in the coming weeks. James
  15. I would think our skimmers add much of the oxygen needed. I could be wrong but makes sense to me. I guess if your drains go into a sump it would mix some more. James
  16. Well, I have been looking for an excuse to take my tank down and redesign something. At 4:00 this morning, I fount it! My dog started barking and woke us up. We heard something downstairs that sounded like water running. Well, it was the skimmer throwing water from the standpipe all over the stand and carpet. I would guess we lost about 10 gallons of water onto the capet. So I want to see if anyone has a stock tank that I can move my rock/snails/crabs into till I can get this mess cleaned up? Also, what about the sand? I dont want to toss it because there is so much life in there. Can I just move it over with the rock?
  17. Welcome back. I have two K4's and dont have any issues with them changing position. Does the ball socket seem to be stripped out and loose?

    Free mini fridge

I have a small mini fridge if anyone wants it. I got this from Starfire a while back and never used it. It needs some TLC on the inside but works great. Call me if interested. James 577-0161

    BioCube 14 Stand

I built this a while back and no longer have the tank. The stand was built around an Oceanic BC14. It is curved just like the shape of the tank. The stand is painted black and built like a rock. If you want a pic just let me know and I will send a few. First $20 takes it. If no offers, off to the landfill I guess. James 577-0161
  22. Thanks. I just called and will take the tank to them tomorrow. They said it would be about $7 per piece. Any reason to use tempered glass? Do you think standard glass would be able to hold the water weight after being siliconed in the tank?
