I'll take the colony and frag it w/Dena and medi. If you don't mind. I have fragged corals and from the looks of duncans, they remind me of candycanes. Do they have skeletal stalks, that way it's easier to snip them off.

We are running a SpectraPure MaxCap RO/DI w/dual TDS inline meters. My husband also added a GE Smartwater canister w/ a 5 micron sediment removal filter before it gets to the unit. We figure maybe we could extend the longevity of the RO/DI filters.
Well I hope this is the last of sps I was looking for. They arrived at 10:20 am this morning.
Still in the bags, acclimating. Deepwater Acro. w/yellow tips.
Acropora Granulosa w/baby blue tips. Already extending its polyps.
After an hour of acclimation....they go in the tank. Deepwater Acro.
Granulosa
See if you can spot the little crab.
Here's a list of tangs that ate caulerpa and not corals, IME.
Purple Tang
Yellow Tang
Brown Tang
Dussumieri surgeonfish
Regal Tang
And believe or not my coral beauty eats it too. Whatever the tangs eat, she eats.....go figure
I would think since they're encrusting.....that's a good thing. The larger the base the stronger the colony ( I tend to look at corals like trees---a strong root system it will encourage good growth ---upwards---). Most of my frags that started from 1" to 2 1/2" started to encrust before putting significant up-growth.
