Looks like some kind of sponge or similar creature

Yes, the new tank is alive

I should mention that I plumbed the drain pan to a safe location so that any overspill goes down the drain line ...

May be some kind of chalice? (see: https://worldwidecorals.com/wwc-goldeneye-chalice-1.html?gclid=COmZs5Swg9QCFQePaQodfAULCw)
It looks like it might be undernourished to me. What do you feed your tank?

I put a drain pan under my tank RODI tank. I'm paranoid, so just in case the float valve ever fails ....
They come in many different sizes, here's one example:

It's really awesome to see so many epic systems in Austin! I can't wait to see them all, lol! Someday, hopefully, I will join the Reef Savvy club. Very nice build!
Thanks for the kind words. There really are some great builds in town!

Added a few fish last week, purchased from Nuxx since he was taking down his system.... Sorry, its a crappy cell phone pic
- Bandit Angel
- Gem Tang
- Yellow Tangs
- Clown
Tangs are tolerating each other since they've been in Nuxx's tank for a long time together. Everyone is ich-free and eating well, so now I have to be super careful adding anything new to the tank. Nuxx tells me the Angel is not a coral nipper, but time will tell

Ball anemone, usually not considered harmful

Check it for air bubbles, sometimes they get trapped in the probe tip and cause craziness.

That's it, I'm leaving the club

Congrats, that's a big accomplishment. Here's hoping your advisor goes easy on you!

I also have a Varios DC pump. I have not had it for long, but I really like it so far.

Moved this to Reef Keeping forum at OP's request

That's similar to my schedule, except I only skip feeding the fish two days a week, weds & fri. Those days I use BRS Reef Chili (and the fish get a few nibble from it but the LPS love it) I think without dosing something like aminos or KZ Pohl's Xtra you will need to make sure you have enough fish in there to keep nitrate and phosphate levels where you want them, or course that is coupled with your weekly water change volume and how aggressively you skim.

Everything looks really happy. I like the melanurus and female blue star leopards.

Been a while since the only activity was waiting for the cycle to complete, which it has.
To get things going, I dosed Dr Tims bacteria and ammonia a month or so ago. We are now fully in the UGLY stage.
I added this cleanup crew yesterday:
And these guys went into my quarantine yesterday (7 dispar anthias)

Never heard of kpaquatics before, but their site looks very interesting. I'll be very curious to see what comes in on your rock!

Maybe you could try target feeding it a couple of times a week? Here's a video of target feeding with reef roids:
