Maybe your daughter is just an old man at heart . Regardless, I approve of Ben and Jerry .
It is funny you mention that. When she was born, the nurses said she had an "old soul" as she didn't cry or fuss much during the whole initial bath and poke/prodding.

My symbiosis tank got some Dome love also. Added another clear anemone shrimp and an itty bitty Pom Pom crab last night. Eats see if I can find the crab again this morning

Added a super big blue spotted watchman and a blue-ish pistol, shrimp to this tank, that I got from that Dome meeting. I think my daughter was hanging around Planeden too much at the meeting, because she named them at the store Ben and Jerry
The pistol was apiered up with another smaller goby at the store, so wasn't too happy last night when the big goby came its way. Hopefully they will work it out today. The pistol made a nice cave in the front of the tank so far.

Dose log
Today tested calcium at 360 ppm and Alk at 8.4 dkh.
Losing 20 ppm calcium a day. Daily dose to maintain is 10 mil.
Losing 0.3 dkh (0.1 meq /l) per day. Daily dose to maintain 8-10 mil.
It's seems odd (compared to bottle) that my Ca is going away so much faster than Alk. Theoretically I should be dosing twice as much for Alk as I am calcium.
After testing I dosed 30 mil of Ca which theoretically brings me to 420 ppm. so tomorrow I'll be at 400.
2-14 dose 20 mil Alk
2-15 dose 20 mil ca.
2-15/2-16 test with salinity at 1.025. Maybe professionally.
2-17 go watch other people test and dose at Austin aquarium.
Prev post 460 (ehem, up one...)
The meeting at the Dome is today, 2-16. The Aquarium visit is on the 17th.

Off to a great start with the pictures! And the tanks and new critters look great.
Hoping also for a recovery on the bubble coral.

That doesn't look 440g

Awesome. I showed my g/f and she thought he was eating the crab. It's a porcelain crab, right? She wants one now. Naturally..."pet with a pet" are her favorite.
Thanks for the picture. It's great.
Yes, that is a porcelain crab. They are awesome when they sit there sifting the water with their little "fans".

This is a picture of my anemone antics for you @Planeden

Anemones will go through all kinds of looks and states. I think the funniest is when it withdrawals all of its tentacle, and bubbles up its base. The poor porcelain crab tries his hardest to hang on in the little bit of tentacles sticking out.

So, I was using the darker forum theme until today. Now I'm back on the standard theme/skin. Not by my doing, it just reverted for some reason.
Now I can't seem to find where to switch it back. Is the alternate skin/theme still an option? Not a big deal if it isn't, just wondering.
At the bottom of the site is a "Change Theme" link. I have seen the theme revert when I have logged into the mobile version of the site and changed the theme from there.

Did I mention I added a single spot fox face to the tank? He is a big chicken fish, but is starting to pal around with the tangs.

I love the clown goby in the birds nest. :-)

Beam angles.....Something I wondered about after my first BMLED purchase. Can your lights be used at a full 180 degree downward angle (completely face down towards the water) 3" off surface? or is that discouraged? If so can it damage coral? I'm maybe 2 months into using my BMLED lights and have had 0 problems so far but is positioned with no angle, directly facing the water. Feedback from a pro-in-the-know is appreciated.
Hmm, I use my BML lights almost as you describe and have no problems. In fact I have seen tremendous growth in some corals (sympodium being one) that wasn't growing at all under MH. I would have to look back, but my fixtures are at least 6 months old.

Sweet! I am really loving my RBTA. It has gotten really bubbly lately, and am wondering if that is because it is time for me to change the MH bulb.
I have one clown that always hosts in the anemone, and the other clown half hosts the anemone, and half hosts in some palys also.

Yes, Apex Controllable and we will offer pre-configured spectra options :-) Will have estimated availability dates soon.
Nick
Are these still coming? I don't seem them on the web site. It is getting time for me to replace the MH bulb on my nano tank, and I would really like to transition it to a BML fixture
