  1. If you have good light and good water paramaters, go for it! FWIW: I feed mine silversides once every 2 weeks. Target feed using chopsticks, maybe 1/3 or 1/4 of a silversides at a time. I know many do not target feed condys but I've had good success with mine doing this. I would not feed it if it is deflated though. Wait till it is open. Give it a week or two in the tank before trying. Don't put the food into the mouth. Let the tentacles grab it an do their thing. Grog
  2. Condy won't host clowns and three weeks is probably a bit early for a condy in a tank. It can be done depending on your set up but typically folks recommend a more mature tank for anemones in general. IMO: If you decide to keep the condy, it can live but needs high light. My most successful one is at the top of the tank in the highest flow and loving it. Deflating isn't always bad though. They do shrink and then re-grow as part of their daily/weekly process but it could be a sign of them going south....
  3. Installed my BRS RODI unit today. One of the easiest plumbing installtions ever.

Same here, I was amazed at how easy it was. Also how sturdy and well built everything was.

Mounting hardware/brackets are heavy gauge. I'm happy with the purchase and cranked out 15g of water tonight. :)

if you want to speed up the process, you can buy an extra membrane.

  4. Guess a club member was in my neck of the woods today. Spotted an ARC sticker at the Best Buy in Bastrop.

  6. Hi, I'm in Bastrop too, out in Tahitian Village. Welcome to ARC. Glad you made it back out to Bastrop, many have left. Usually, if I'm going to a store, I head into Aquadome as it is a straight shot up 71, they are a sponsor, and a good store. Grog

Very Cool! I have a pr in my 180g and they are very interesting to watch. Great little fish!

I was just looking at those tonight on seaandreef. I was thinking it would be a nice thing to have in a clam display tank to keep worms out.

Mine probably eat some bristle worms as I see them from time to time with white bristles poking off their lips but I still have tons of Bristle worms in my tank along with spaghetti and other worms so they aren't the voracious worm eaters online might make them out to be. They are a little aggressive with each other even as a pair in my 180g but they aren't towards other fish.

  8. Nope. I'm using Fedora on my laptop. It is working now. Thanks! Sorry for the duplicate thread. I didn't see this thread.
  9. Status is working!

  10. Grog

    Status?

Still not seeing it I'll try another PC tomorrow. Wouldn't surprise me if it was this machine.
  11. Put an orchid dottyback in with the mantis last night. Couldn't find it this morning. Looked around and it didn't jump. Was worried the mantis at it. This evening the dottyback is around and swimming happily. Must have been hidden really well. lol I'm still concerned it may become a midnight snack for Bubba though. Pretty fish. Will take a picture when it sits still for a bit.

    Status?

Didn't know where to put this but did the ability to update our status disappear? Didn't it used to be under our login name pull-down at the top right of the screen, or am I losing it?

I'm totally stoked! It is an exciting opportunity and has room for growth. Only downside is I get no time off for the holidays. Oh well. I'll make it up later. Had two weeks of for Thanksgiving etc. :)

  15. If you get one, and want to get rid of the stock light let me know, I like the stock light but want a bit more and I think 2 would look cool.
  16. Ok, I'm definitely in now. Grabbed the Aqueon 4 this afternoon. May do a leak check tonight. Cute little tank!
  17. I'm considering using an "Aqueon Evolve 4 LED Aquarium Kit", seems like a nice form. On sale pretty cheap on Amazon right now. If the lighting is not enough, I may get another LED or just go with a small CF instead. I wanted to build my own but honestly don't see that being realistic. Too many things going on right now.
  18. I have one 6 line and two clowns in my 33 long. The six line follows the clowns and pics at pods on the rocks all day. He is goofy and follows the clowns, but has a more fluid motion. Been in there with the clowns for 6 months. No issues. Sometimes I think he may think he's a clown the way they buddy up and hang out in the frogspawn together. Then he will disappear into the rock work with a flash. Clowns can be agro though. Less agro fish may not do so well with a 6 line. I'd expect the 6 line to pick on a more timid fish. I've considered adding a 6 line to some of my other tanks once they are properly cycled. I enjoy their behaviors. I have mostly inverts in this tank. He doesn't really bother them. Seems to be totally intent on decimating the pod population.
  19. Ouch! Sorry to hear about that. Its enough of a bummer losing one or two things but all at once is rough. Good to hear you are restarting and not throwing in the towel on the hobby.
  20. Molts always freak me out. Everytime I think, "OMG! Its dead!" Never fails.

swear my pom pom crab had a twin in the tank I didnt know about... I literally couldnt tell the molt wasnt real.

  21. I'm into this. I like the idea of building from scratch and using the money saved on hardware for livestock etc.
  22. That's a good question. I was considering using this as an opportunity to make a small acrylic box from scratch. Competition aside, I may do that anyway!
  23. Did a water change yesterday. Things look good today. Claudia starts things out. She's the star of the tank. She sits at the top of the rock work, almost out of the water, getting as much light as possible. She's at the back of the tank, directly in front of the overflow from an Aquaclear 110. When she's fully open she is as wide as the AC 110. Here she is at about 75%. When she shrinks up into her orange sheath, she is about the size of a large shot glass and makes the transformation during the course of a few hours. Took about a hundred pictures of the clowns. Sorted through them and came up with this. One is from Petco and the other is Alphonse, from Patrick. Both are doing well and have hosted in/with the frogspawn but I couldn't get these camera hams to hang with their coral for a good shot. They are both pigs and practically beg for food when I come around the tank. The mushrooms are filling into their little area in the sand bed nicely. The Ricordea continues to do well. If I were to add something else to this tank, it would be another Ric. I love the texture on them. I may harvest a few of the green fuzzy Rhodactis for trade soon. They all came from one small piece the size of quarter. (Thanks acfilmz!) The Ricordea I got from RCA, it was about nickel sized but is near a silver dollar in diameter. Last pic in the update is a small plate coral I picked up in a trade from Timfish. I never would have bought one of these based on the descriptions I've read of them. It was very funny looking, small and hard when I got it, but it has opened up. It has a cool translucent green hue with vertical tendrils that open up. It also has seemed to 'ooze' over the substrate. I'd like to get another of a different color. Fun specimen and seems to be more open and larger daily. I hope it is as long lasting as the frogspawn and condy. This was the best shot I could get of it.
  24. Final water change done. I' good for a month or so.
