Still recovering from the Pink Square Anthias disaster. Thanks Local Fish Store. :-( I will have one some day!
I'm taking the advice from several, that I need to leave the tank fallow for 6 to 8 (LONG AND PAINFUL) weeks, on week 4 now.
The tank itself is doing OK, starting to see some coralline algae on some of the rocks.

Hi all,
I would cut and build an acrylic sump/refugium myself, but cutting the acrylic can be tough without the proper tools.
So does anyone in the community do acrylic work, and be willing to sell me the pre-cut acrylic and I can assemble it?
I'm looking for something like, 42x15x16. Should include two round filter sock holders. One of the sections should hold 15-20 gallons so that section can be drained for the water changes.

This was the only fish in the tank, should I be able to introduce other fish into the tank without any danger?
There is two hermit crabs and two snails.

I lost him!
He was not covered in any thick coat of slime, all the spots appear to have been gone. There appeared to be some damage to his scales. Like he had been moved roughly a few times.
One thing I forgot to provide was the water conditions of the main tank:
Salt - 1.024
Ammonia - 0
Nitrate - <15 ppm
Nitrite - 0
KH- 180
PH - 7.8
What do you think killed him? I have pictures if that would help.
What should I do with the tank? How do I move forward?

First fish in the new tank and this is what happens.
My beautiful new Pink Square Anthias looked good in the store and when I got him home. Mouth had a little spot, that I thought was from transport.
But by later Sunday night, the spots started to appear. He was hiding so I didn't get a good look at him.
I treated with Melafix on Monday after work. I removed the carbon filter and turned off the protein skimmer.
When I got home today, he looked like this.
He is coming to the front of the tank. I haven't seen him eat. I've feed him mysis shrimp and frozen krill. Breathing looks OK, much less than when he was going through the acclimation process. The LFS had the water at 1.02 (maybe less) the tank was at 1.024. So it took me a couple of hours for the acclimation.

I got the doors for the stand installed and wall trimmed out. Ammonia is down to almost nothing and the nitrite & nitrate are where they should be.
I didn't think having the Loc-Line installed would look so nice, but I think using 1/2" has restricted the flow too much. The supply is 3/4" then splits to two 1/2" nozzles. I think it's the Y fitting is restricting the water.

Hermit Crab. If he could find his way back to the live rock from the other tank. He seems to be exploring everything but the rock he came off of. I will drop a little food in front of him tonight.

Thanks.
Most of the waiting has not been cause I wanted to. But there is an order and I hate going backwards.
Over the weekend, I'll be working with the rock. :-)

I have the tank in place.
Using a simple Herbie overflow setup. 1" main, 3/4" emergency over flow, 3/4" return. The pump may need a bleed off value there is a lot of water moving in there. But it's almost silent.
Water has been flowing for 2 days, I need to tighten one of the PVC pipes at the bulkhead.
The sump is temporary, I'll be building a much larger one before everything goes live.

Sad to report, but the bristle worms and hermit crabs had almost taken care the body by the time I got home.
Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions.

Most of his life he got mysis a couple times a week, and marine pellets the other days. Remember he has lost his coordination, he doesn't get the lunge, open mouth and suck food in, process right. So he tries to eat the pellets but they just sink to the bottom with him chasing after. If I feed mysis now, 99% hits the bottom.
-
He has stopped trying to eat, so if he's made it till I get home I'll take care of him.
Should I be concerned that the tank is contaminated?
-
He is in his own tank, Does anyone think the tank would be contaminated.
The fish has been looking worse for days, and I'd also heard that the most humane way is the freezer.
Even a few days back, when he looked better, the not being able to eat or being blind don't is not promise.

I've had this fish a little over a year, first it got lateral line disease. And had black around it's eyes. I removed carbon and that went away. Then I noticed that it's coordination was off when it tried to eat(see video). It doesn't get the lunge, open mouth, swallow process. I've been over feeding so it could get some food.
Now it's got this notch out of the body, with a line in the body.
Should I just send him to a happier place, or can he get well?

Thanks!
For the aquascape, I'm going to shoot for a bonsai looking shape with a longish shelf on one side. The other will be an island atoll, main mountain with hills making a circle. Now I with I had 24" to work with, instead of the 18" depth.

Second dry fit of the tank and I got the space above the tank cut out today.
I will need to sand and re-stain the cabinet door, but I've got plenty of time for that.
I need to do three things before the install; some plumbing from my mixing station, trim out the opening, and add rubber pad to the stand.

If I was at a LFS, and was told to pick a stand, it would be anything other than light wood tone. I also want the tank tied more to the living room than the kitchen. The more I thought about it the more my minds eye saw dark under the tank. AND I have plenty of dark stain left from my stairs.

DIY Sump - Anyone do acrylic work

I'm afraid that 42" will not fit through the opening, but 38" should just fit. When I designed the stand, 42" would work, but I added a little more bracing to the back opening, once the stand was built.
My current idea for dimensions is 38x18x16. But something ready to go, would be nice.
