  1. Nice setup. I like it.
  2. Welcome. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
  3. I have two in my tank. They seem to hang out mostly behind rocks. I guess that is where all the good "food" is.
  4. I'm jealous. I think I'm going to have to trade in my chain link eel for a pair of those babies.
  5. I haven't tried any bigger creatures. I have/had a few olive snails in there. I haven't seen them in a long while. They are probably fat and happy under the sand. I'll see if I can find some larger turbos. They seem to be in short supply in town as of late.
  6. I setup a 55 gallon small predator tank about 6 months ago. The problem is, predators eat the normal clean up crew invertebrates. I have a starry blenny in there to help with algae but he's not doing a very good job. I had put a long spine urchin in there but the bluespot puffer I have started eating the spines off of him so I put the urchin in my display tank. Are there any other CUC creatures I could try to help control algae? Maybe a starfish? I'm not sure if the puffer would eat the starfish.
  7. Their location is easy to get to. I make a weekly trip down there and I live in North Austin, almost Parmer. I'm glad to see that some Sohals are coming in. They are awesome fish. It makes me sad though because I have some incompatible fish in my tank that the Sohal will kill.

Those are nice wrasses. I've been considering getting one but I've already got three in my tank from the same genus.
  9. I was just there on Friday. They have some great pieces. I wish I had more money and room in my tank.
  10. They aren't normally jumpers. I have only seen some flop around at the top of the water if they are scared or getting chased by other tank mates.
  11. Give it some time. It is probably stressed. Forcing the feeding may stress it out more and cause more damage. Night time would be a good time to feed, probably an hour after lights out. A week? I got it from Sherita because it wasn't doing well in her tank. There's some skeletal recession/death and she said she had a hard time getting it to come out to eat. I've gotten SOME of the polyps out and got some mysis to them earlier in the week, but nothing like I see on melevsreef or elsewhere.
  12. How long have you had the colony in the tank?
  13. Ah yikes. That's rough. Definitely sounds like the MH raised the water temperature too high. Based on the corals you described you may want to look into LEDs or T5s to help avoid this type of thing in the future. I run LEDs on my tank and they have been great.
  14. All are great stores. AquaDome has a more diverse selection of livestock that AquaTek and River City. River City has a great hardware selection in terms of tanks. AquaTek has a great selection of accessories and buffs. AquaTek also has some more "rare" selections than AquaDome. All in all though they are all great stores and their staffs are very helpful and knowledgable.
  15. I have a lot of these really tiny white starfish in my aquarium. I'm 95% sure they are asterina starfish, however, I do sometimes see them on my polyps. I have lost a few smaller polyp colonies because they seem to "melt" away. I just looked at a polyp that was "melting" and noticed that a small starfish was on it. Are asterina starfish harmful? If so, how the heck do I get rid of them?
  16. They kind of look like mojano anemones. If you pick up a few peppermint shrimp they should take care of them in no time. The coloring of them is a little weird so I could be mistaken about them being mojanos. They could just be palys.
  17. Yep, it is a horrible excuse.
  18. Nice! I've been wanting to put together a pico tank for my desk at work but our facilities folks say that it is a health hazard and attracts ants.
  19. Nice. Did you get it or is it still there?
  20. I did the same. I would like to mention that it is cheaper to get an RO/DI unit and make your own.
  21. I have a few pieces of equipment that I am not using anymore that I'd like to sell. Here we go: Current USA 36" T5 Fixture - $150 Euro-Reef RS-80 Skimmer - $65 (Perfect for a <75 gallon tank) Coralife UV Sterilizer 8 Watt - $75
  22. This may sound morbid, but are you able to get to him with a kabob stick or a bent wire hanger? I have had to "fish" out dead fish from behind my rocks using all sorts of non-PETA friendly methods. If you want to go humane you could use a small pump and a hose to "flush" him out from under the rocks. It would only disturb your sand bed.
  23. Current USA makes some LEDs that are pretty awesome. I have 5 strips on my tank and they are amazing. Ask Mark Callahan, Mr Saltwater Tank, about them. He's the one that hooked me up.
