I have it growing like crazy in my 8 gallon biocube. Not sure if it should be taken to my 55 or not.
What's your experience...
Please ignore the need to clean my tank, I know I've been neglecting it
I liked this article on the subject http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-04/nftt/index.php

Glad to see another northerner here. When are we getting a LFS on the northeast side of town?

Hi, i work down in Austin and lunch breaks often include a stop at Aquadome. If you are going to be setting up a tank with stuff from there ie tank, stand, lights, live rock, their "membership" will pay for itself.
Welcome to the addiction

Sold and gone! Thanks.
Mike,
Nice meeting you, looks like it will sit nicely in my bedroom. The Talibot is in his new home and hopefully I can get him better, if not, I'm gonna move some of my zoas.

Just curious, where do you get your water from?
-
Neat,
I've never run across a live sand dollar in all my years snorkling.
-
With all the reading about when you change lights, if corals aren't getting along, etc. I feel that it is important to be able to move your frags as needed. Gluing them in place is fine to glue to a plug or small piece of LR.
But then that piece needs to be secured in a less permanent way unless you are sure that you won't be changing things.
I like the pp idea about drilling and a little putty to hold in place. Seems like it would make it easier for fragging as well.

I have replaced my TUNZE chiller with a JBJ after a salt creep leak caused a major short in the unit. I made rudimentary repairs to the electrical cord but was unable to repair. Unit display powers up, but it appears that the controls were fried when it shorted out. This is a great opportunity for anyone that wants to go to the trouble to ship it off for repair or for someone that is able to repair refrigeration units themselves. It is rated as a 1/3hp chiller. I'm asking $50 for the unit. Here are some specs about the chiller:
AT-5000 Chiller Specifications:
* HP – 1/3 Plus
* BTUs – 5,000
* EER – 8.0
* Tank Capacity – 100-400 Gallons
* Heater Outlet – 1,000 Watts
* Electrical Cord – 6' Detachable, 14 Gauge
* Length – 12 inches
* Height – 18 inches
* Width – 12 inches
* Weight – 48 lbs
* Voltage – 115-125v/60Hz
* Maximum Breaker – 15 amps
* Inlet/Outlet Connections – 1" FPT
* Water Flow
* Minimum – 360 GPH
* Maximum – 1,100 GPH
As much as I would want this, I just don't have the money until July (tight budget)

I had a problem with my Nitrates, when they got too high (GT 25 PPM) the snails would get loopy. They'd die if I didn't do a partial water change.
After the water change, they were fine in a day or two.

ask around in east Austin...
LOL
I was there, in a bad section of east Austin recovering my daughter from a party near LBJ HS.
I was not happy to be there.

Along a similar vein, I've been following this blog about the new high intensity LEDs.

Along the topic of live rock, how about:
Stacking live rock, techniques, precautions, aesthetics
How long to have out of water
Adding live rock later
putty, acrylic rods, etc

Tank top not enough

Well, I'm officially bummed. My Cherub Angel decided it didn't like the living arrangement anymore and sought a new home.
Unfortunately, he only made it to the floor. I picked up his dessicated body (well, actually via my dog's mouth) and tossed him back in.
Nope, he'd been dead for several hours or more, quite crunchy.
Immediately checked my params, all good.
He was the boss of the tank so not sure what spooked him.
The damsels and dottyback are all fine as are my corals.
Ok, just wanted some sympathy.
