  1. LOL NonSequitor, how's the urchin doing? Still carrying around various critters, eh?

    Regarding the lawnmower blenny, are they difficult to keep alive once the algae is gone? I heard they don't take to prepared foods nearly as much as they like and need a good amount of live rock to feed them.

  2. Just putting this out there.. to see if anybody is interested. Got 1 Blue Damsel. She's a beautiful electric blue color, about 2". Only downside is... damsels fly solo unless you get real lucky or got a large tank.

    She must go immediately. If no one wants her she is going to the fish shop tomorrow.

    I wanted to see what kind of response I had for this. Here's what I have:

    One unused, new still in box JBJ 28g Nano Cube HQI system with everything EXCEPT the remote ballast:

    * (1) 150 Watt HQ1/14k (FIXTURES, BULB, ETC INCLUDED) (REMOTE BALLAST NOT INCLUDED)

    * (4) Nite-Vu LEDs with separate power cord

    * (2) UL-Listed Accela Powerheads (266 gph each/16w each)

    * (2) Directional Flow Nozzles on each side of the aquarium

    * (1) Ocean Pulse Duo-Alternating WaveMaker

    * (1) Protein Skimmer (Counter Current) with Air Pump

    * (1) Integrated Center Overflow

    * (1) Newly redesigned filtration system with designated heater column and protein skimmer solumn with constant water levels.

    * (4) Integrated Cooling Fans (3000 RPM's)

    * (1) Flame-retardant ABS Canopy Housing

    * (1) Integrated Thermal Protector for Canopy (Auto Shut Off Protection)

    * (1) Removal Filter Media Basket with handle and sliding door for easy access

    * (1) Filter Media - Sponge, Activated Carbon, Ceramic Rings

    I had plans to do some custom mods to this tank, but my plans have changed. Note, the fixture, bulb, reflectors etc are all included. The only thing missing is the remote ballast. This setup would be good for those who wanted an All-In-One but had plans to upgrade / mod the system with a custom ballast or hood. If you were gonna upgrade the ballast anyway, this might be a good deal. There are several upgraded electronic ballasts on the market for the system, nanotuners is an example.

    Stand is seperate, also not included, this is the tank only.

    $250.

  4. I looked at the hitchiker guide and some other places and couldn't seem to find what I found in my tank today. It was on the glass and it moves pretty quick. It later went down to the sandbed where I lost it. I can't imagine this thing being good. Anybody more experienced know what this is? Some kind of nasty flatworm? It was a little over 1/4 of an inch!

  5. Jake I feel like I stole from you during your holiday sale. I bought that oceanic tank, mh lights, and skimmer from you for below market prices. You don't deserve this!

    I'm gonna stop by this weekend to do a little shopping. I hope you catch whoever did this.

  6. Thanks for all the replies! Sump is not an option as I don't have one. I have a 28g nano tank is all. I didn't consider someone might actually want him, but I guess he would be good in certain scenarios.

    I'm not sure exactly what species he is. I tried looking him up and I guess he's really not that big, but in comparison to my blue legs in a nano tank, he's pretty large I suppose.

    Anyway, I already got someone interested in him, so I'm gonna try to work something out. If it falls through I'm gonna put him in trade/free.

    Thanks again, I feel better not have to kill the guy.

  7. I have this hermit crab. He's big, grey, ugly, and totally out of control.

    I have three total in my tank. The other two are well behaved. The one in question, however, is a total jerk and bully to everything else in my tank. He is always bulldozing over corals, stealing food from everybody, trying to pick fights. Now, I think he has damaged one of my corals.

    I hate to kill him, and I wouldn't purposefully give him to anyone so that he can start terrorizing their tank. But, he's now doing real damage. Should I just euthanize the critter? What are your opinions, thanks.

  8. It's good to know there might be a local glass shop that can make it. Please let us know if Binswanger works out for you. Another alternative is of course onedayglass.com. They are very reliable from what I hear.

    As for the UV protection, my understanding is that all glass provides some UV protection. I'm pretty sure you do not need special UV glass for Metal Halide lamps. A regular piece of 3/8" thick tempered glass should provide you all the protection you need. But do not take my word for it, it is just my experience and research, do some searches and ask your glass provider, there is a lot of information on the subject.

  9. I have a JBJ 28G Nano Cube. I like my tank, but my advice would be just be prepared to mod the heck out of it, because you will eventually be disappointed with much of the stock configuration, equipment, and performance of most of the All-In-Ones. For example, my tank has a 150w Metal Halide and my temps were out of control until I got creative with some fans. I'm not even going to mention the stock skimmer, lol.

  10. Hi all, I have a really cool plate coral I'd like to sell or entertain any interesting trades for. I'd like to keep him but I don't have enough room for him in my 28g nano cube, and they really prefer to sit on the substrate and not on the rock. Picture isn't great, taken on my BB. In the pic, he's about 4" in diameter, but he will inflate even further than that.

    $45 for the coral, or trade for any interesting frags. I can do sps, lps, or softies in my tank. I know fishes aren't usually bartered, but I'd accept a nano-suitable fish for trade as well, as I'm going to be selecting new fish for my tank.

  11. I agree, I'm pretty new to all this too, but it definitely looks like Aiptasia to me. I've got some in my tank I'm trying to rid of. I just put two peppermint shrimps in there; hopefully they'll clean 'em up but peppermints can be hit or miss on the pest anemones.
