  1. Purigen is amazing. Almost too good to be true. Just be sure to recharge it properly. Very properly. Or you'll nuke your tank...
  2. Mixed tank 70% - 20% - 10% SPS/LPS/Soft
  3. Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm upgrading to a 58 gallon 36"x18"x21 and I'm considering whether to go with Koralia Evolution powerheads or a Vortech. Not only do I like to "looK" of a wave tank, but I keep hearing how much the livestock likes it. Do you know which Vortech you would recommend for that size tank? Sorry, Christian I do not mean to hijack your thread, I thought it would be a good place to discuss the wave tanks, I can start a new thread if you like.
  4. Mark, is that a Tunze Wavebox in the upper right corner? BrooksReef, how do you like the wave-making capabilities of the Echotech? Would you recommend a Vortech powerhead?
  5. As others mentioned, a pier and beam foundation should be OK, but you should definitely have it inspected, and if there is any deficiency, you can have the specific area shored up with extra support. It's not that difficult or expensive either.
  6. Did you get it from Shane? He has lots of experience with them, I'd give him a call.
  7. Man, those are really stunning. How big do they get? I'd love to have one for my pair of percs, but I only got a 28g nano.
  8. Putting this out there again, for anybody who might be interested.
  9. I'd grab the Candycanes if I weren't so dang far from you.
  10. Man you learn something new everyday ha! i caught two of my nasses mating the other night, caught 'em straight in the disgusting act lol but they didn't care. Haven't seen any eggs yet though.
  11. LOL NonSequitor, how's the urchin doing? Still carrying around various critters, eh? Regarding the lawnmower blenny, are they difficult to keep alive once the algae is gone? I heard they don't take to prepared foods nearly as much as they like and need a good amount of live rock to feed them.
  12. SOLD I wanted to see what kind of response I had for this. Here's what I have: One unused, new still in box JBJ 28g Nano Cube HQI system with everything EXCEPT the remote ballast: * (1) 150 Watt HQ1/14k (FIXTURES, BULB, ETC INCLUDED) (REMOTE BALLAST NOT INCLUDED) * (4) Nite-Vu LEDs with separate power cord * (2) UL-Listed Accela Powerheads (266 gph each/16w each) * (2) Directional Flow Nozzles on each side of the aquarium * (1) Ocean Pulse Duo-Alternating WaveMaker * (1) Protein Skimmer (Counter Current) with Air Pump * (1) Integrated Center Overflow * (1) Newly redesigned filtration system with designated heater column and protein skimmer solumn with constant water levels. * (4) Integrated Cooling Fans (3000 RPM's) * (1) Flame-retardant ABS Canopy Housing * (1) Integrated Thermal Protector for Canopy (Auto Shut Off Protection) * (1) Removal Filter Media Basket with handle and sliding door for easy access * (1) Filter Media - Sponge, Activated Carbon, Ceramic Rings I had plans to do some custom mods to this tank, but my plans have changed. Note, the fixture, bulb, reflectors etc are all included. The only thing missing is the remote ballast. This setup would be good for those who wanted an All-In-One but had plans to upgrade / mod the system with a custom ballast or hood. If you were gonna upgrade the ballast anyway, this might be a good deal. There are several upgraded electronic ballasts on the market for the system, nanotuners is an example. Stand is seperate, also not included, this is the tank only. $250. http://www.jbjlighti...g-nano-hq1.html
  13. Thanks for the replies! Good to know its not harmful. I was misinformed because I thought all flatworms were bad, but it seems the real problem ones are the reddish brown ones. Cheers
  14. I looked at the hitchiker guide and some other places and couldn't seem to find what I found in my tank today. It was on the glass and it moves pretty quick. It later went down to the sandbed where I lost it. I can't imagine this thing being good. Anybody more experienced know what this is? Some kind of nasty flatworm? It was a little over 1/4 of an inch!
  15. Jake I feel like I stole from you during your holiday sale. I bought that oceanic tank, mh lights, and skimmer from you for below market prices. You don't deserve this! I'm gonna stop by this weekend to do a little shopping. I hope you catch whoever did this.
  16. Thanks for all the replies! Sump is not an option as I don't have one. I have a 28g nano tank is all. I didn't consider someone might actually want him, but I guess he would be good in certain scenarios. I'm not sure exactly what species he is. I tried looking him up and I guess he's really not that big, but in comparison to my blue legs in a nano tank, he's pretty large I suppose. Anyway, I already got someone interested in him, so I'm gonna try to work something out. If it falls through I'm gonna put him in trade/free. Thanks again, I feel better not have to kill the guy.
  17. I have this hermit crab. He's big, grey, ugly, and totally out of control. I have three total in my tank. The other two are well behaved. The one in question, however, is a total jerk and bully to everything else in my tank. He is always bulldozing over corals, stealing food from everybody, trying to pick fights. Now, I think he has damaged one of my corals. I hate to kill him, and I wouldn't purposefully give him to anyone so that he can start terrorizing their tank. But, he's now doing real damage. Should I just euthanize the critter? What are your opinions, thanks. Christian
  18. I have a JBJ 28G Nano Cube. I like my tank, but my advice would be just be prepared to mod the heck out of it, because you will eventually be disappointed with much of the stock configuration, equipment, and performance of most of the All-In-Ones. For example, my tank has a 150w Metal Halide and my temps were out of control until I got creative with some fans. I'm not even going to mention the stock skimmer, lol.
  19. Hey Barderer, sorry I was so rushed. Thanks for the great frags for a great price. I'll try to post some pics of them in my tank soon. Take care, Christian
  20. If you have the time, cook the rock. Do a quick google on "cooking live rock".
