  1. I think someone recent suggested putting Mussels in the refugium.
  2. My subscription to Coral Magazine is coming to an end, and before I renew it I thought I would check out what other people are reading. So let me know what reef keeping magazine you recommend/subscribe to. Thanks Charles

    First Sump Design

    From the album: Sump Design

Sump is based on a 20gallon (Long) tank and has 3 compartments. Compartment 1: Has bubble tower in the corner for water coming from the tank. This area is for an Algae Turf Scrubber. Compartment 2: Return section Pump will send water back to display and to the Refugium Section Compartment 3: Has bubble tower in the corner for water coming from the return section. Refugium area...mostly LR/Rubble for Pod growth. Has a 3 probe hanger on wall.
  5. Did you have corals in your tank? If yes, how were they affected?

Mark didn't you already have a dendro that you got rid of?
  7. The leather from the pic in your second post looks like a Toadstool Leather.
  8. I think the real key will be if you can see a mouth in the center. If there isn't a mouth then perhaps you DO have a leather.
  9. Nahh just have an external overflow on the side facing the wall with your plumbing etc. in the fish room on the other side.
  10. I don't think you view them looking upwards, you view them in the normal fashion. They just don't have a stand/cabinet underneath them.
  11. If you get a lot of sun on your porch I would recommend Lantana. It gets nice flowers all summer and fall. You chop it down to 6" in the winter and it comes back again in the spring. Also it's a texas native plant.
  12. Looks like it could be Aiptasia. At first I thought it was just a bristle worm till I viewed it full size. There is definately a bristle worm in the foreground of the first photo though.
  13. I'm by Leander Rd. and 35.
  14. I have decided to move in a slightly different direction with my media rack in my 28g Nano Cube, so I have a few items to sell off. 1 - 45gram Activated Carbon Insert - $2 3 - 6.5oz Chemi-pure Elite - $5/each 2 - JBJ Replacement Activated Carbon - $2/each 1 - JBJ Ocean Pulse - DUO Wavemaker (New never used) - $30
  15. The problem with the Tune 9002 is that you have to saw off the mounting magnet, and then cut the trim on the tank so it can fit in the center compartment. That would mean I loose my refugium. The Remora is good from the reviews I have read (though a little loud). I could fit a Maxi Jet 1200 in the far left compartment, though I have read that these skimmer to best with a Mag 3. I prefer to go with a skimmer that doesn't require me to put the pump in the tank at all, but that really limits me. It's all on where do I want to compromise.
  16. Euro-reef has one that fits in the center chamber with some modding, but that means I loose my refugium space, which I enjoy having. I looked at the Deltec but those are a lot more money.
  17. Thanks for all the great input. I think I have found a better solution for my tank that doesn't require me to have the pump in my tank (which is a PITA). Have been reading good reviews on this skimmer.
  18. Does anyone else on these boards have a JBJ 28g nano cube? Are you still using the stock skimmer? If not, then what? I am considering upgrading mine to an AquaC Remora. Has anyone else used one? What did you think of it? TIA Charles
