  1. I've been wanting to get an Apex controller for awhile now and I think it's time. After looking at the different controllers, I think the Apex Lite is probably enough for what I need. It's a long shot but anyone looking to upgrade and want to sell their Apex Lite? :-)
  2. It's a long shot but anyone culturing rotifers locally? Just asking before I get it online. Thanks.
  3. Yeah. My clownfish likes to lay on it and hide under it when I am cleaning the tank. He'll have to find a different place now. 😞
  4. RIP. I was changing the water in the bucket and noticed that it had a big hole in the middle. Severe tissue deterioration. 😞
  5. I'm not sure what specie it is since it came with the tank when I got it a long time ago. It have survived a long time and I hate to lose it even though it's nothing fancy. The stuff that's coming out is like white and filmy. It looks like smoke when it is release. It hasn't deflated completely I don't think. Like I said before, I have seen it shrink down when it got too much flow. The water it's in now is all mirky so I'll need to replace the water and then try to take a picture. I can see the mouth open pretty big so that doesn't look good. I'll try to upload a picture but I always had a hard time getting pictures here.
  6. I had it in my tank for several years now. The only recent change I made was an addition of a small pump for more water flow. I noticed recently it was shrinking and wasn't as spread out like it used to be. I have seen it do this before when it's in a higher flow area. So I thought it would just stay smaller and adjust to the new flow. So this is a surprise to see it react this way. I currently have it in a bucket with a small pump for flow. It still looks like it is continuing to spew stuff into the water. I'll try changing it and see if it will stop. Anything else you think I should try?
  7. I need some help/advice. I came home today and noticed that my tank was very cloudy. I noticed my big mushroom anemone was spewing out nasty looking film. I immediately took it out of the tank and did a water change. I tank looks okay this morning and I don't think anything was severely affected. The big question is, is my mushroom anemone on its way to anemone heaven or just something it did not like. Can it be save?
  8. Thanks. They look like they got some good stuff. Just wanted to stay local if possible to avoid shipping.
  9. Not looking to spend too much but would like to add red grape macro algae and maybe another colorful one to a small DT. Close to NW Austin would be nice. Thanks.
  10. I'm interested. PM sent.
  11. Andy, Do you know the exact model? I've been considering getting a RO/DI unit and may be interested.
  12. I was considering using vinegar to clean my K1 pump. Do you just soak it in vinegar for a few hours, scrub and then rinse with lots of water?
  13. I used a retrofit kit from nanocustoms.com for my Nano Cube 12G but I would check out the lighting forum on nano-reef.com. I read through tons of LED DIY threads with pics and instructions there if you need some tips. Good luck!
  14. Let me know if the ATL Shades of Fall and GARF bonsai deal falls through. I'm interested.
  15. I got it when they had a $50 off for pre-orders back then. http://www.nanotuners.com/product_info.php?cPath=73&products_id=618
  16. I have a NanoCube 12G and was in the same situation awhile back. I ended up purchasing a LED retrofit for my canopy from Nanotuners.com. I considered the heat issue and stayed away from the metal halide. It is expensive (~$250) but worth it in the long run IMO.

    Digi

What color is it when the polyps are extended? Is this a monti digi?
  18. It looks like you got four water channels (2 from Koralias, 2 from Y-return pump) and all of them are from the back wall. You may try placing one of the Koralia on the side to go across the tank. This would collide with the other and create a current effect like cmanning suggested.

    Mag 7 Pump

For sale is a Mag 7 Pump (700 GPH), in good used condition. This was the return pump when I had a 75 gallon tank. I have a much smaller tank now and don't see myself with a large enough tank to use this pump again. Yours for $40 OBO. I'm around 183/Duval. PM me if you are interested. Thanks for looking.
  20. My Nanocube 12G Setup: - Nanocustom LED retrofit kit for Nanocube for lighting - replace stock return pump with MaxiJet 900 - Koralia Nano circulation pump - chamber 1 - filter pad and purigen - chamber 2 - chaeto refugium (The Nanocube backing is just black vinyl, so easy peeling to get light into the back) - thermometer and return pump Livestock/Corals: - pair of clownfish - purple lobster (from original owner and my son named him Cousteau so I can't remove him. ) - four different zoanthids colonies - orange florida ricordea - two heads frogspawn - small green bird's nest - three acroporas It sounds like a lot of stuff in a 12G tank but everything is fairly small so it's not overcrowding...yet. I'll see if I can upload a picture of the tank for you tomorrow when the lights are on. You're also welcome to drop by and check out the puny tank if you like. Just PM me if interested.
  21. I read a post by someone awhile back (on another site) that they placed theirs on a rock at an angle. He got great results from them splitting naturally that way. I have one that is mounted with a 45 degress slant when it had two mouths. Now (2 months later) it is looking it like it is ready to be completely separated. I don't know if the mounting angle helped or not but just thought it may be worth trying.
  22. I agree with Gonzobob about trying to purchase one used. The reason being most of the stock equipment you will toss away almost immediately. I have a Nanocube 12G that I bought on Craigslist back in Nov 2008 and took out the sponge and bioballs the previous owner had in there. The canopy stock light was not working and the previous owner said she went through two ballast replacement on it before giving up and getting a single satellite fixture. I had trouble keeping my clownfish in the tank with the open top setup so I replaced the light with LED retrofit from Nanocustoms. Love it! I get the intensity of metal halide without the heat issue. I also converted the middle chamber into a fuge. Most nano skimmer are not worth the trouble so I run mine skimmerless. No problem as long as you practice good husbandry. I'm keeping only a pair of clownfish and a variety of LPS/SPS. All in all, I'm pretty happy with the tank. If I had the option, I would probably have gone for a 24 gallon version. I wanted to get back into the hobby and keep my wife happy too so the small one works out.
