  1. Most corals dont' like direct, laminar flow which is what many powerheads produce so you want clashing flows, bouncing flows, etc. Try to angle so you get a variety of movements. Lee
  2. When does the 6055 come out? That is a good idea, I am not a fan of the bulky look of the other Tunzes as well. Lee
  3. One of the biggest reasons I want to change is to reduce the number of motors in the tank to reduce heat. My tank is running at 78 to 80 right now with the ambient temperature in the low 70's in the room. I am sure that each MJ probably adds at least 1 degree in temperature or close thereabouts (would be a neat experiment assuming you could keep everything else constant). If I can remove 3 to 4 powerheads from my tank that will save on energy and heat to tank. I too must admit I have a hard time coughing up so much for powerhead. But when I saw my first nanostream in action I could tell a big difference. I was more or less wondering which model number would suffice for a 75. You see a lot of guys that think bigger is better and then they are selling or trading a 6100 because of sand storms or downed corals. I wanted to buy right the first time. Lee
  4. Yea, I was actually at Aquatek today and they were out of every stream and nanostream. I was going to ask him, but he wasn't there this morning. Just thought I would give this spot a shot first. Thanks, Lee
  5. When will you be available for us to come by? I can bring some more bags and I have a container for the rock. Thanks, Lee P.S. what is your paypal?
  6. I would love to head down, but I am a pastor and have a team leader meeting after church so I can't make the meeting on Sunday . Maybe we can make the next on. We could talk motorcycles!!! I have a Honda 1300 VTX retro model. Lee
  7. I'll give it until tomorrow and if no one gets it by then, I will share the name. Lee
  8. I'll give it until tomorrow and if no one gets it by then, I will share the name. Lee
  9. l would love to!! Randy at River City is always telling me about your stuff. Fridays are my day off, are you ever around during the day on Friday? If not, Saturdays are also usually ok except this one as I am helping my son with his science project. Lee
  10. That would be correct, it isn't a scolymia. That was what I figured it would be as well. To give you a feel, a search on Reef Central on the latin name had about 5 or 6 hits. Here are some hints: 1.) The flesh is very thin. 2.) There is only one "mouth" and there are short tentacles around the mouth at night. 3.) It isn't "meaty" in any sense of the word. 4.) It is a part of a very popular coral genus. Lee
  11. Ok guys and gals, just posting for a little Friday evening fun: Who can correctly ID this to Genus and species (no common names)? Here is a hint, it probably isn't what you think. I purchased this over the Christmas holidays at a LFS in Norman, Oklahoma. Try to get it without the books (but I will tell you I have only found one picture and very few Reef Central references to this coral). Best of Luck, Lee
  12. Alright, I have a question concerning which Tunze would you recommend for my 75 Gallon mixed LPS/SPS tank. Currently, there is are (2) MJ1200's, (1) MJ600, (2) Tunze Nanostreams. Most corals don't like the direct flow of the MJ's on them and needless to say I'm sure I could reduce heat input to the tank by replacing most with one Tunze. I can only afford one large Tunze so which one should I get? I would like to keep (1) nanostream and (1) MJ 1200 in the tank. The MJ 1200 is at the bottom behind the live rock. And then does anyone have a used one of whatever is recommended that they want to sell? ; ) Thanks, Lee
  13. How about a small piece of the yellow/red favia you have? No money needed, I put in the ad trade a frag for the RO/DI and Litermeter. Lee
  14. Hey all, I have a Spectrapure CSP RO/DI unit with pressure gauge but NO filters (DI, Carbon, or Sediment) or RO membrane. I also removed the flow restrictor as I was planning on increasing the output capability. I figured this would be great for someone who wants to get started with their own RO/DI water. I am only looking for a frag in exchange, but if you don't have that no problems. It is still yours. I do have some extra 1/4 tubing you can have as well. You can check out spectrapure's website for more information on their membranes and filters. I also have an original Spectrapure Litermeter body only (have no idea where power supply got to). It is free to whoever wants it. I live in Georgetown. Lee
  15. I would like the Pumpkin zoo's, rugosa and maybe 15 to 20 lbs of live rock. What is your paypal? Lee
  16. Ok, I think I am figuring it out. I was making adjustments way to big with the valves instead of tweaking and fine tuning. I will post any further questions I might have. Lee
  17. Hey, anyone in the Georgetown area or Round Rock area good at plumbing? I have a little too much noise from drain and some bubbles n return. I have never used a sump before and could use some help. email me at [email protected] or call 512.869.5792 Thanks, Lee
  18. Well, I bought a used one for a great price. Plugged it in and it is producing bubbles up into the collection chamber at a ridiculous rate. I went to the website and downloaded an owner's manual. I have the rubber gasket set as low as possible so as to maximize the bubble column. After reading the manual, I did realize the microbubbles in the tank is normal for a few weeks during break-in. It does have the optional drain plug which I have going to a container, but it will be filling certainly within a day at this rate. Is this normal for a new one? Thanks, Lee
  19. Wow, two offers from people who don't even live in Georgetown!!! I hate the thought of someone having to drive so far to take care of my tanks. I have a friend who lives close (just not a reefer). Let me check with him before I have someone drive in from out of town. What an awesome group to get so much offers from out of town!!! Lee
  20. Judith, Thanks and have a safe Christmas!! Will definitely keep you in mind for future trips. Lee
  21. Is there anyone in the Georgetown area who can watch, add top-off water, keep an eye on my tank from Dec. 25th - 29th? There are a couple of frags in the deal for sure!! I live in Georgetown Village. Lee Hoy Georgetown
  22. Man, if we got GreenMako coming to Austin from SA we will have be fortunate!!! Great to have you. Lee
