  1. Albert, good to hear you are stopping by this area. give me a call when you are down, i might be able to meet you somewhere. i'll pm my cell #. Tell everybody up there i said hi.
  2. Hey marc, I am glad i saw this post. I have been slacking off on my tank lately and kinda needed something to remind me how much i enjoy my hobby (even thought its becoming difficult to afford right now). you should see the devils hand frag you gave me prob 6 mo ago. it was about the size of a quarter its now about 4in across it is actually one of my fav's. Marc tell frank i said hi and i plan on stopping by next time i come up that way. thanks for stopping by marc. Rob (aggiemedic on all fish boards)
  3. again welcome to Buda. as stoneroller implied i smell a tank tour
  4. if its available ill take it but i think people are in line in front of me.
  5. well the euro reef it is. A friend of mine at DFWMAS is selling his prop setup and he just happens to have a ER RS-80 (no the extruded acrylic one) for 125 and guess who is getting it?
  6. i was wondering the same thing i will be watching this post and watch this one because i have asked the same question http://www.austinreefclub.com/index.php?showtopic=1074
  7. Does anybody here have experience making the maxijet stream mods?? i know you can buy the kit online but i was thinking i might be able to save a few bucks and do it myself, having never done it or seen it done i and very hesitant. so does anyone have any experience in this venue that would want to walk me through one. I learn alot better watching something rather than just reading it so the walk thru's are great but still dont feel comfortable.
  8. because a lot fo this is new to me let me ask you why they wont. now this is my ignorance talking but it would seem logical that if you just turned them on and off they would create that effect. what is the mechanism in the pumps prevents this. (i am trying to educate myself not questions your expertise) thanks dude
  9. i had a few thoughts on the wavemaker thing. can the hydor pumps be turned on and off with x10? if i had a computer running x10 at random intervals then wouldn't that be the same as a wavemaker???
  10. I need a lot of stuff for my new setup. first is a return pump i was thinking a mag7 would be a good one to start with. not because i have a history with them or anything like that they just seem to be the name i keep hearing. I am looking for a skimmer. was thinking about the euro reef RS-80 i'll probably end up buying one new. but gotta save the money. Lights - T5 4x54w probably 2-10k and 2 atinic of some sort. other than that i dont know. probably a retrofit and i will build it into the canopy. i have know idea about the ballast. Overflow- I am going to TRY to build it Try being the operative word. but i still need one. I already have the sump, tank, and i am building the stand in 2 weeks probably with either cherry oak or maple depending on the deal i can get on the wood. I am looking for a controller for my tank. and i obviously dont need it right away but i always miss them in the FS forum. I have checked ebay and craigslist to no avail. not made of money so i am looking for something a little cheaper than full price. i like the reefkepper 2 and it seems like it may be a better deal than the AC Jr. oh i am also looking for a 50g drum to store a complete water change. I would like to find an RO/DI unit but since this is a rental house i am hesitant to install it anywhere. I was thinking about 2 of the hydor koralia #1 one on each end alternating. but i dont know how to get that to happen. What else am i missing? I know there is a lot left, but i am having trouble coming up with it. thanks all
  11. i am trying to keep the price under 150. and it says that euroreef 80 is rated for up to 200g this is only going on a 55g tank so i am worried that that will be a little overkill. i have the opportinity to purchase the PM es-100 with the 9.5 for $100. so i am trying to decide i was thinking of getting it then replacing the mag 9.5 with a 5 or 7 then use the 9.5 as my return pump. your thoughts
  12. which would you pick? the precision marine es-100 with a mag 9.5 or a coralife superskimmer 125 the es100 is for a 100g with a 9.5 pump the coralife is for a 125g
  13. where the heck is everyone? i havent seen much change since sat night btw site looks great
  14. will do, have to wait until payday (fri one week from today)
  15. thanks joseph but i am really looking for a frogspawn. maybe if it is still available when i get my 55 up ill take you up on that offer. but for now im pretty much just look for a single frogspawn head. 3 heads would probably be too big for the nano at the moment.
  16. ok this is the final stand plan any suggestions I should add there will be a plywood on the bottom then a layer of pond liner to prevent damage to the carpet. and hold any water in should there be an overflow
  17. as the title says i want some frogspawn. its a nano tank for now so just a single head is all im looking for. im on a tight budget so cheap would be best but free would be bada$$ (hey one can hope right) anyway im gong to place it on the other side of the tank from my hammer coral (it is a single head also) let me know or you can call me 936-433-4942
  18. what kinda of wood should i build my stand out of? i think i remember reading somewhere that i should not use your basic pine from home depot. if not what kind of place should i go to? remember i'm not in the austin area, but i will be building it in houston at a buddy's woodshop
  19. Gabe i may take you up on that. as for the acrylic: i have a heat gun that i used and it worked ok but like headless said its getting it straight that is the hard part.
  20. the plan right now is to have the tank sitting flush on the front but with 6 inches in the back to have room for the overflows so the stand can sit against the wall. i dont think i have a problem with not having a lip around the front because if you look at the measurements the stand is 6'6" and the tank is only 4' so i will have 15" on either end of the tank for "stuff" I am going to need help with plumbing though, because i know nothing about how it works. I know the basics water goes in this end and out the other. i know how i need to have it set up but when it comes to putting that plan into action i dont know the first thing. headless the acrylic worked great. needed to cover 1/2 of the 5 gallon hex then i'm using the scrap to learn to bend it.
  21. i wont be at the maast meeting today but i will be on your way either to or from. i live in buda just south of austin. 936-433-4942 give me a call thanks
  22. I need a piece of scrap acrylic. i am looking for a piece about 6x13 doesn't have to be a perfect piece. i have a 5g hex that i dont like the top of because the light socket gets wet. so i need a piece to help prevent evaporation. that's it, thanks
  23. sorry the keyboard and i had a miscommunication, you are right i can't drill it , that is why i plan on overflows sorry my mistake stand design and i was thinking about lap jointing all 8 corners as well
