  1. there is another thread where they work out the details... I believe they decided on $3/lb on rock dry or live, and $1/lb for sand. I agree $100 is a lot (they were using $150 for corals and $150 for livestock) but i figure we can work the rules how we choose.
  2. I creep through the other texas groups on a regular basis using Tapatalk, so today while at home sick i was using my laptop and found this idea on the DFWMAS site. I guess it never caught my eye because of the app but this time it did. I love this idea. I am wondering if there is enough interest here to get it started. We could use the rules they created or make our own. I will paste the rules they used below for reference. If we could get this sponsored by the club that would be great. depending on the number of people we could have prizes etc. another idea that I like is to do a group buy for the tank so we all use the same tank. limit the budget to $150 equipment, $100 livestock, and $100 Corals. I think that should be plenty being that it is only a few gallons. http://www.dfwmas.or...p?f=173&t=95198 there is the link for the rules and other about info. once the tanks are established for x months we vote on the best/prettiest/coolest/austin-est? its kinda short but C4 could be an end date. (any other date would work just fine too) your thoughts????
  3. Yeah I got a little poke to my index finger and its still got a little hole in it too. once the sand clears I would love to see pictures of her in her new home.
  4. aaron, i would love to see some pictures every once in a while if you dont mind. thanks My living room is so much quieter without the tank running its eerie
  5. Everything is gone, thanks aaron. I dont know if he is keeping the clown or not you may ask him. Rob
  6. Due to things beyond my control I am taking my tank down for an unknown period of time. I have live rock approx 60 lbs, plenty of sand its over a year old, and a false perc (probably a female by now she has been by herself for the last 6 months) Rock I guess for $2/lb sand is free if you buy something else. Because i have not been able to take the care I would like to the rock may need to be cleaned one way or another, some of it has some hydroids but with some kalk paste they should go away pretty easy, other pieces have some GSP that is kinda dormant right now. I may have a few zoo's left but dont think so. one of the reasons im getting rid of the stuff is i have been having an algae problem and cant get the red slime to go away. so quarantining would be a good idea, I KNOW i dont have any flat worms or red bugs or that kind of stuff. you can call my cell. 936-433-4942 I live in Buda right off 35. Thanks Rob
  7. pavestone makes a pulverized limestone sand that works great. i will post some pics once i find em. but i am using it and i love it. I dont know which homedepots carry it here but its usually like 5 bucks for 50 lbs and for some reason it was on sale when i got it for like 2.99 hope that helps if you need more info i can try to find it for ya edited to add pics - these pics are pretty old, i will take some new ones if you would like, i use this in both my pico and my nano. and once i get the money for a big tank ill use it in there
  8. would anyone be interested in xenia or kenya tree, its pretty common and i have a lot to trade, but i dont want to mow it down and nobody want any? ill bring some if some people are interested.
  9. ok so I am not going to say where (so you guys dont beat me to it) but i think i found a tunze skimmer for $100, not knowing much about them. which model should i be looking for to use on a 55-75 gallon tank (possibly 75 display and 55 sump) anyone have much experience with these? i think it is one of these skimmers http://tinyurl.com/277m2m

    green chromis

I have 2 green chromis that i honestly am getting tired of looking at and i dont think the clown likes them. i would like something different, a shrimp or 2 would be cool. some zoo's really thinking about a cleaner shrimp though, something that i could put in my new pico(1.5g thanks James) I dont know just want to send them to a better home than they are currently in (one that will appreciate them more) anyway let me know what ya got.
  11. why does stuff like that always come available when im broke?
  12. what does she eat? I might be able to offer her a home if that one falls through.
  13. I am really iterested in the pico. but i am going to have to think about it need to wait till payday. is it the jbj pico tope?
  14. Why OH Why do these have to be on Friday's? I hate my schedule.
  15. i had some brds nest before and the polyps NEVER came out. i honestly didn't know what it looked like until i saw someone elses and said ooooo whats that? all i had showing was the stony base no polyps. i dont know if it was parameters or what
  16. I hate the whole "what can you give me" posts but... I am getting bored with what i have (it hasn't changed in like 6 months) I'd like something new in my tank and the wife has taken my tanks credit card, (funny it has a way of spending money quickly) im just looking for something small a few zoo polyps a mushroom , finger leathers (any softie really) whatever you are tired of looking at. It's a 24G nanocube stock lights LOTs of flow MJ1200 in the back and 2 -900's in the display. I may have a small red sea xenia elongata and can cut plenty of kenya tree if you would like some of that. thanks Rob
  17. awesome idea i was looking for some DIY things but coouldn't get the pieces to match up right. awesome... once i get started i post in the diy section about water storage sytems
  18. i havnet cut the hole yet so size wont matter. they are for my ater mixing /water storage system.
  19. Where are the good cheap places to get bulkheads here in town??? I know i have seen some at aquatek but not really anywhere else.
  20. Just pointing out the obvious but those barrels are going to be "clean" meaning no chemicals ever being in them due to its leaching out into the plastic then back into the water. or have they just been used for water? sorry but i had to ask the obvious
  21. Barrell City told me they were $18 for the 55 gal with removable top or the same price for the one with 2 - 2" hole in the top. they are blue and right off the "office" they had worsteshire in them. make sure you didn't get ripped off. take the main street exit going south on 35, look for the fireworks place on the right, it is just past bunch of barrells cant miss it. the hay stacks are one business too far.
  22. Marc, I am Way south and not much to see actually but wouldn't mind hanging out a bit when you get here, would love to tag along until i have to work sat night if there is a "seat" available.
  23. Been there a few times- a few notes 1 if you are going for the aquaria alone - you are going to see some pretty nice stuff, however i have been disappointed evrytime (better looking tanks in the DFWMAS group up there) dont get me wrong its a nice place and they have some nice setups. 2 its a bit pricey last time we went just for the aquaria and its a little pricey. 3 I do like how they have tanks seperated by geographical region. if i remember one tank had a ton of royal gramma's in it. another a bunch of long nosed hawkfish. overall i think its pretty nice it is definitly a place you shoiuld go to if you have never been. but for me seen it once seen it a thousand times. There is another aquarium in fair park i believe its aquarium at fair park or the dallas aquarium at fair park or something like that its only 4 bucks to get in but i dont know what the inside is like never been unfortunately.
  24. well i will try to see it if its on any of the channels here at the station. yeah he should probably start practicing. how did he get that gig?
