mdavis735
I recently bought a macro lense for my canon point and shoot. This is the second time i have practiced with it.I also learned today that there is a program you can run from the sd card that allows the camera to shoot in RAW mode.I took some pictures with it and thought i would post them.Hints and Tips welcome as usual. mdavis735
i will be the first to critique.i need to learn how to resize better.when you click on the pics they look bad.on my computer the originals still look nice when at full size.i guess i scaled these too much and lost quality. medi
Looks good, especially for a point and shoot. What model Canon is it? Where did you get a macro lens that would attach to a point and shoot?
Brooks
What degree Kelvin bulbs do you use?
mdavis735
medi-its a canon a590is.it has a trim ring around the lense that comes off.you can then put on a 52mm adapter ring.there is a company that sell a 10x macro lense,a telephoto lense and a wide angle lense.i dont remember the brand but it was $30 for the adapter tube and macro lense.i figured it was worth a shot.now i just gotta practice and build some photo taking skills.lol.brooks-it is a phoenix 14k 250 watt de.since i got the camera to shoot in RAW those colors are pretty dead on.by far the closest i've ever gotten. Brooks
Ohhh alrighty. They're awesome pictures, but I can see where the colors might be a little washed out. Keep posting progress!!!!!!
+dapettit
My first digital camerea was a Canon A60. The picture of the yellow polyps on the home page was taken with it. Now I have graduated to Nikon dslr. Dave-

+dapettit
Are you hand holding the photos or using a tripod? Dave-
mdavis735
i was using a junk tripod.i need to get a decent one.the one i have is many many years old and had really flimsy legs.
+dapettit
You might also incorporate the timer. This will eliminate any camera movement.
mdavis735
i had it on the 10 second timer.the tripod is probably way to shaky.the pics were much more sharp when i opened them in raw format.after i compressed them is when they lost quality
+dapettit
That makes sense. . .
mdavis735
i guess i gotta learn how to change from raw to .jpg without losing quality
+dapettit
use .tiff How do the lenses attach to the camera?
mdavis735
it has a trim ring that comes off.revealing a "bayonet" lug.the adapter tube then attaches to that.the adapter tube accepts a 52mm screw on lens
+dapettit
So you have extension tubes? They go between the body and the lens?

JAY-ROC
Great pics... I just bought the Cannon G11, it is a point and shoot and I was wanting to get a macro lense. Where did you get yours from, because I really want one now. It does take very good pics as is but I think it can do better. Here's one... If it looks like this I cant imagine what a macro lense would look like.
