GKarshens
As many of you know I have had a problem with these Nudibranchs. I am ordering an Ornate Wrasse to try and control them. I thought I would post some pics so that anyone that doesn't know what to look for will see them. Make sure to check all frags and rock you get from anyone! Here are the eggs: And here are the actual Nudis:
mojo
Make sure to check all frags and rock you get from anyone! Addendum: Make sure to check and dip all frags you get from anyone! Nice pics, Gabriel, as usual. Mike
hobogato
from what i read, the levamisole hydrochloride (levasole) that i am using for an AEFW dip is supposed to kill these guys too, but as always - not the eggs.
GKarshens
Thanks for chiming in guys. The more we all harp on people about dipping AND examining everything we put into our tanks the better off everyone will be.
JimD
Unfortunately, Monti eating nudis are probably one of the most difficult pests to eliminate, nothing seems to work 100% efficientl. As a last resort I tried applying kalk paste to the infested areas of the coral, although it did seem to have an effect on the nudis themselvs, it didnt have a long term affect on the eggs, resulting in total removal of all Montepora species from the system. DoMa
are these nudis? my eyes are not that sharp, gabe i sent you a pm. thanks
GKarshens
That does look similar to the destructive pattern they are leaving on my corals.
DoMa
i found my monti problem, i have the oceanic salt nudi, i guess you have to mix the salt for a few days.
GKarshens
I'm glad you don't have any Nudis! Yes, it is always a good idea to let any salt mix for at least 24 hours before doing a water change. Update on my problem: I found 1 nudibranch a couple days ago and removed it. I am still waiting for the wrasse to come in. All my remaining Montis seem to be doing good.
GKarshens
I finally got the Wrasse. He is not an Ornate but a Two Spot which isvery similar. Hopefully he does the trick! Here he is:

GKarshens
Carlos at River City ordered it for me. It was $30.
Noodle
How is the wrasse helping with the nudis? I think I picked up some monti-eating nudis from a green cap from hobogato at the march meeting. Not his fault, but I should've QT'ed it and checked it with a fine tooth comb before adding it in Edited April 29, 2007 by Noodle
Joseph9123
I want to know too now since I got that table from you. Did you get rid of all the nudis?? -joseph Le
GKarshens
I haven't seen one in months. All my montipora are growing and happy. I think trashing any affected areas of corals along with the new wrasse solved my problem.
