Rjohn
Sorry but I seem to be obsessive about lighting these days. Has anyone tried red lighting on their aquarium? From some of my reading, red is used in hydroponic farms to increase plant growth. Coral should benefit from some red light, yes? Or would that cause horrendous algae blooms? +Daniel
I think the red spectrum would be more beneficial for algae-types. Then again, many bulbs have a second peak near that spectrum (or I could be making that up).
+dapettit
If you are not using T-5 bulbs I know folks who have added red spectrum to their set ups, not sure of the benifits. I sure the lighting experts will chime in. Dave-
+dapettit
Ric, Are you asking about T-5 or red LED moonlights? Dave-
Rjohn
Ric, Are you asking about T-5 or red LED moonlights? Dave- The red led moonlight but I have seen LED grow lights on sale that include red lighting as well as white and blue.
+dapettit
I don't think red led moonlight would have an adverse affect. They come in white, blue or red. Are you leaving them on all night? Dave-
Rjohn
I don't have any yet. I was asking if it would be beneficial or harmful and hoping for some anecdotal evidence.
