Manny
Any suggestions on which are good nitrate test kits? About to start the NOPOX regime of the RCP and need to be able to test low amounts of nitrate.

Reburn
If you need to test sub 4ppm go with the Red Sea pro kit.

Manny
I've been happy with the Salifert kitDoes the salifert test low levels of nitrate? Like 1 ppm?
jolt
It does. Basically you look down through the sample for high range and if that takes you to the low end of the color scale then you look sideways through the sample for low range and divide by 10. Reburn
Yes the Red Sea will do down to .25. I haven't had any problems reading it. I have a salifert n03 test kit that I never use anymore I couldn't see the color change very well. I can see the Red Sea pro better. It's the Pro version where you put the vials into the holder with the color wheel. I think either would probably do well for you.

Reburn
One think to keep in mind that the Red Sea Pro kit requires you mix 1ml of tank water into 15ml of RODI to test between 4ppm and 32ppm. To test from 0ppm and 4ppm you just need 16ml of tank water. The test also takes 9 minutes to stabilize after everything is mixed.
Manny
Is it usually all fizzy when you test?
Reburn
Yes it gets fizzy. Sometimes I will also get little black clumps in it too. I have researched and people and Red Sea say that is normal.
