Lorie C
I just helped hatched my shark out of his egg last night. What and when do I try to get him to eat? My best guess is he is between 6 and 8 inches long. Thanks Lorie Banded Corl Shark
nvrEnuf
I'd try PE Mysis; and he/she should be born hungry!

Timfish
They can be difficult to get to eat sometimes. You would want to follow up on this but one refference I read a few years ago said about a third wouldn't eat. Besides the mysis you can try just about any fresh seafood from Central Market or Whole Foods. Make sure you ask if it's been treated with sodium triphosphate or sodium polyphosphate as this will obviously cause phosphate issues in your tank and may also alter the taste of the seafood. nvrEnuf
I haven't kept a shark in an aquarium yet, but I did find purses when growing up and screened them in the wild until they hatched. I have to wonder if predator response might have something to do with it. I had one sand shark hit a small live shrimp while not even out of the egg completly! I think I screened four or five purses over the years... one didn't hatch, and the others were all eating when I let them go. I can't wait to have a tank big enough for a shark!! Maybe some small peppermints? Careful teaching to eat live food however!
lenver
What's a good size tank for one of these?
Robb in Austin
Big. IMO, something on the order of 8ft long, 3-4ft wide. Or more.
sethsolomon
Go to the supermarket and pick up some squid. You will have to hand feed the shark to get it to eat. And slowly he will be acclimated to hunting on his own.
