jake112005
I'm out of town and my fiance saw this creeping around in the tank. She said it is 4 or 5 inches long with millions of little legs. Need to know if it is good or bad. Thanks for any info.
Bluemoon
hard to tell for sure from the picture, there's actually a pretty diverse selection of worms that can end up in tanks. Based on the description im going to guess its a bristle worm. Here's a link to a good read on them http://www.thereeftank.com/blog/what-to-do-with-bristle-worms/ IME it's a harmless scavenger but I've seen some get really, really big and bold. sethsolomon
Spines on all sides or just on the sides? If the spines are only on its side, most likely its a Hermodice carunculata (Coral eating fire worm) If the spines are on all sides its a bristle worm (I am only ok with bristle worms in the sump and don't want them in my display. my $0.02). It also could be a Lumbrinerid but very unlikely.
Elizzy
If you're going to remove it - use forceps and don't touch it - it will sting real, real bad.
