Scraping Coralline Algae Poll

I attempted to post a poll, but I'm not sure if it worked so I'll repeat the questions.

1. How often do you scrape?
2. Do you scrape the back glass?

If you haven't scraped the back glass in a long time and it's almost completely covered, is it OK to scrape all that off at one sitting or should I spread it out over a week's time? Can putting that much into the water column cause any one parameter to spike?

I do not scrape the back of my glass. If the back of your glass it totally covered, I would probably do it in stages just to give the tank time to filter stuff out. I would imagine in a 72 gallon tank, there is going to be a lot of stuff and I wouldn't want it to potentially choke anything out.

Don't scrape the back glass either, but usually just doing the couple time a week scraping of the front and sides keeps those pretty coralline free.

My tank is viewable from all sides, so I scrape the coralline every few months. I recently scraped the tank and it made the water a bit cloudy for two hours but that was about it.

I put every water change because my answers not there, I don't scrap the glass on a normal basis. Probably haven't scraped it in 2 years.

I have a flipper (mag cleaner with both pad and razor) so I scrape coralline whenever I clean the glass, which is admittedly not as often as I should...

The flipper is awesome! The first time I used it I wanted to burn my magfloats.

Yeah I've got the flipper too. If there's a way to flip it without having to take it out of the water, I've not mastered it yet.

I scrape the back but only when needed, which isn't very often. I have a flipper too and it's pretty easy to flip without taking it out. I think there's instructions or maybe a video somewhere about how to do it.

If you slide it to the corner it makes it easy to flip. I got one and scrape it whenever I see it start coming up in spots. Maby once every 2 weeks

Yeah, it's a little tricky until you the hang of it. It's not bad after you do it a few times though.

It looks pretty easy in the YouTube video. You have to flip the piece you hold upside down and then place it beside the scraper and it flips right over. Cool.
