Various livestock (fish & anemone)

Hi, I'm getting rid of my 135g after a couple of years (thanks to a huge aiptasia problem and a calc reactor malfunction/bleaching event) and will post these items here for a couple of days before posting on other forums:

I live in Leander and will screen all potential buyers because I care about the well-being of these fish. (Priority will go to best living conditions & not first PM)

Note: All fish should be quarantined. I don't have ick or another diseases that I know of in the tank but I don't want to be responsible for your problems.

Here's a link to a page with larger/more pics: http://eliverock.com/reef/ReefFish.htm

Green Bubble Tip Anemone: $25

This anemone is fairly large even after splitting about 9 months ago (I sold the other half back then). This one has always been healthy and hasn’t shown signs of stress (i.e. closing up or moving around the tank)

Green Chromis: $10

He’s been living in my 135g for over 2 years and is the sole survivor of the original 4. He’s always been the dominant one of the group and although he/she’s not a bully, he’s not afraid of his larger neighbors so he’ll probably do well in well-established community tanks. He’s probably 2-3 inches and this pic really doesn’t do justice to what is a good looking chromis specimen .

Green Clown Goby: $8

This clown started out in a 12g Nano and was moved to the 30g fuge quite some time ago. He’d probably be quite happy in a nano.

Here he is making a cameo in a pick from October 2006 http://eliverock.com/mar/z_brn1.jpg

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Coral Beauty Angel: $25

This angel has lived with us for over 2 years. It’s a pretty fish and the pics don’t do justice but that’s because it’s a very sly fish that doesn’t appreciate cameras. This is probably one of the “smartest” fish I’ve ever had. It’s very curious and aware of what is going on and I don’t look forward to trying to catch it. He explores my entire 135g tank and I’d suggest that he move to a tank in that range or larger.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Longnose Hawkfish: $35

This guy has been with me for at least 6 months and has fortunately never shown an interest in my live shrimp (I’ve even had some relatively small peppermints and he stayed away). He likes to pick out shrimp bits from the frozen cubes (i.e. emerald entrée) and does not show an interest in flakes or pellets so he’ll need to be fed some kind of small frozen food… If you’ve never had a Hawkfish you’re missing out on a great personality. Tank size should be at least ~50g although I’ll give buying precedence to someone with a very large tank (150+) because he’ll appreciate it.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Male Green Mandarin Dragonet: $30

This guy eats frozen bloodworms. How often have you heard about a mandarin living in a tank for over a year? Exactly… This one started living with us on 8/26/2006 and has proven to be a healthy specimen probably through a combination of eating pods from the tank and chowing down on the bloodworms that I feed daily. I believe he also eats mysis shrimp out of frozen cubes. Established 125g minimum. Certainly there’s someone out there with a monstrous (300g +) tank that is interested in this guy. ?

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

2 mated Pajama Cardinals: $30

These will only be sold as a pair because they mate often. It seems like the male is holding eggs every month and I’m surprised he hasn’t starved after so many mating sessions and so little time in between. The pair has been in my tank since ~September of ’05 and probably started mating 6 months later. I’d suggest a ~46g minimum.

Here are a couple of pics from October 2005: http://eliverock.com/mar/2005_10_26_PajamaKardinal1.jpg & http://eliverock.com/mar/2005_10_26_PajamaKardinal2.jpg (They’re obviously much bigger now…)

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Sailfin Tang: $45

He’s probably 4” to 5” and I’d guess he’s been with me for about 12-18 months. He’s the dominant fish in the tank although I’ve only noticed him aggressively going after food and not charging other fish. He uses every square inch of my 135g and will need to go into a 150+ tank, preferably MUCH larger for long term living.

I've got dibbs on the mandarin and the green clown goby

4R00P3R, as mentioned per e-mail, you have dibbs on the goby and the Dragonet is still pending.

Put me next in line for Mandarin.

I am setting up a 225 gallon tank with lots of live rock that have been in tanks for years.

Lee

SoonerFan, you have good taste in football teams (same as me, born/bred) but I'm going to defer the Mandarin to 4R00P3R unless I get an offer from someone with a very well established monstro tank (i.e. 300g). I understand that the live rock is fully seeded but the "setting up" portion is a bit of a concern for this awesome fish. Sorry... oh, and OU > Mizzou...

you selling tank setup? if so how much

Not currently. I will be selling it within a month or so but have some travelling to do before I'll have time to set pricing. Watch for it here.

Ciao

I'd like to give this one a home...like the colors :dribble:). I've got a pinkish BT, rock flower, candi-whatever, and another with purple tips...it use to be white, but now it's tanish, which I think means it's even healthier...at least that's what I read. I got the BT maybe about six months ago...it found a spot, but I moved things around and it moved for a month until it settled over on the side...it's thriving and has an anenome crab that has never left it's side. My water parameters are good...just had to increase ph and calcium, but everything else was perfect. Since we added the refugium it's been much easier to keep stable.

If you want to give me the chromis, I can put it in with my others. I just don't really need another and it's not something I want to spend money on right now, esp. when I'm almost broke LOL.

Let me know,

Dena

Some prices have changed, please use the link to see the updates:

Thanks for the goby, Mark! She's still hiding in the rock somewhere because my tomato and basslet were being bullies, but I'm sure she'll come out soon.

Thanks for the update Karen. If she stays hidden I'd use a baster to put food into the hole she's in (she prefers water-borne food).

Sounds good Dena. If the anemone winds up not making it in the next couple of weeks, send your address & I'll mail a refund...

The Chromis is yours for free & I'm glad to hear that he'll be with others if his kind.

Oh, and I'm good friends with Broke...

Q: "How much does it cost to have a marine aquarium?"

A: "All of it"

I'll PM my contact info.

Thanks,

Mark

FYI: Free damsel added to link http://eliverock.com/reef/ReefFish.htm

I have no idea where she is, unfortunately. I've been looking all day, but there are tons of little hiding spaces in my tank. :dribble:

My tank is pretty full now, thanks. Okay, so tell me what's cool about the hawk fish LOL. He's hanging out in the corner since we got him. I'm guessing he'll eventually eat my peppermint shrimp right?

The anenome has completely opened up. I put him on top of a rock at the top of the tank and came home later to find him in the middle, stuck underneath a rock and sticking out the front. I had to move some things around so he didn't sting them, hoping this spot is "his" spot. I think passed my other BTA on the way because he stole his anenome crab LOL. That crab has NEVER left my BTA since I got it...too funny.

Damsel and Chromis are both doing well and the damsel is behaving. So I ended up putting everyone in my main tank aside from the big crab. Pulled most of the aptasia off with a pointy knife...just dug the suckers out. Forgot one rock of zoas, but I'm too tired to work on it so I propped it up with the peppermint shrimp hang out.

Thanks for the cool stuff Mark!

Dena

It's all sold, thanks everyone!
