Depending on what you want to keep in the Freshwater, the limestone can be very good. It will keep you ph at last 7.8. mine was always around 8.3 - 8.6 when I kept it with my African Cichlids.

My tap is around 8.6 after sitting a day in a barrel. I can't imagine what it would be if I had limestone in my tanks. There are some plants that do well in very basic water, but most like some acidity. It should work, but definitely do research on the plant species if you want them to thrive in higher ph water. Annubias and java {whatever} should be fine, but you may have problems with plants that live in more acidic water.
