Freshwater DIY LED Fish only..

Recommended Posts

i have seen a bunch of LED DIY fixtures made for REEF tanks..

but my question..

if i wanted to light up a 20 gallon HIGH, no plants.. just fish..

would this be practical..

whether it hangs or just rests on tank lid :)

thanks..

I wouldn't think so.. I mean, they do look good and add glisten to the tank. I think the cost out weighs the reasoning for using them. Fish only freshwater.. stick a cheap fluorescent light up there and you are good.. This is only my opinion though.. biggrin.png Don't hate me.

Aquatek has some beautiful NON planted Led lighted tanks. I love them, led provides an awesome shimmering effect! IMO the stronger the individual bulb is the better the shimmer. I've seen some super cheap LED outdoor floodlights on Ebay, $20 for 20w LED light aint to bad.

I just added a 3ft LED strip light to my 4 gallon pea puffer tank. I got it off ebay for $20. Supposed to be 6500k and 250 lumens/ft. I'm hoping it will let me keep some plants alive. I should know by the time of the August meeting and you can all see it then :).
