Demodiki
So, I have 6 54W T5 lights over my 90 powered by an IceCap 660 and two AccuStart Triad 2x54W T5 High-Output Ballast by Universal Lighting (each powering two lights). I got the Triads last year from ReefGeek and one of them recently bit the dust. I was going to order another but thought I would check yall's thoughts on these ballasts, my plan. I know I can use the 660 to power four of them but I really did not like the lights over-driven; at least, my corals never seemed to like it. Thanks in advance. subsea
What about overdriving the T5 did you not like? I have overdriven 40W Daylight Delux florescant bulbs with that same ballast for years. With the 660 Ice Cap ballast each bulbs power draw was 81W. The bulbs cost less than $3 each. If overdriving wears them out faster, I change out $3 bulbs more frequently. I have compared the PAR of the 40W Daylight Delux against an Actinic VHO bulb at 110W. The PAR was double on the 40W Daylight Delux bulb.
