+o0zarkawater
I'm usually extremely careful about putting chemicals in my tank, I much prefer the organic approach. I used a sea hare when I had GHA, along with water changes. Bought about 10 or so emerald crabs (online for a discount) when I had bubble algae, and got a sixline wrasse and target mandarin when I had a planaria outbreak. All worked great, and I have no current problems in my 55gal. But cyano..... I had a brown/green version instead of the normal red version people get, that was killing my corals. If I didn't siphon it off daily it would just smother them. No amount of phospahte control/water changes/wet skimming/dark periods would kill it. One dosing of chemiclean fixed everything. Its been over a month and I haven't seen a single bit. I do suggest a reactor for carbon/gfo though. My water looks so beautifully polished right now. I purchased some of the bulk containers from bulkreefsupply and a simple reactor, and while it was a big hit all at once, its WAY cheaper than something like phosban/chemipure. subsea
Many good points made with this thread. I would like to point out about phosphate readings in the bulk water not being a sure fire method of proving that you have a phosphate problem. With respect to mats of cynobacteria, these lower level life forms can withdraw bound up phosphate in the substrate before it enters the water column. Unless you have an algae filter for removing phosphate always use phosphate resins.
