+dapettit
OK, I didn't listen to her now the house smells like rotten eggs. I noticed the intake valve on my Ehiem 2213 was in the off position so without thinking I turned on. The wife asked why the water started smelling like rotten eggs so I told her. After calling me an idiot (in hindsight I sure was) , she asked why I didn’t clean it out. So I shut it down, it was running for less than 2 minutes, and broke it down. I believe the stench was worse than the skimmer! I cleaned it, replaced a couple of pads. Yes I kept a couple of the old pads for the biologicals. Robin will take some water to the LFS to be test. Hope I didn't harm anything! This tank was really coming along.
Entropy
I always kept my fluval running. Is there a reason you turned it off for a week?
+dapettit
Believe me it wasn't intentional, I hadn't replaced the carbon pad in awhile. When I set it back up I forgot to open one of the valves. Luckily I didn't burn the motor out! Lesson learned: Double check everything. The cool thing is I learned that live rock really works. My tank has never been clearer!
ReeferKris
Be sure to check for nitrate and ammonia! Hopefully your tank is big enough to withstand the oops....Good Luck!
