chatfouz
I lost my power plug for my portable hard drive. It says DC 12V 2A, I found a 12V 1.2A. IT doesn't say DC or AC. It is probably not safe to use 1.2 A for 2.0 A right?
jestep
No don't use it. If the current rating on the power supply was higher than the hard drive it would probably be ok. If you run a lower rated power supply it can overheat and catch fire or damage the hard drive. Also, hard drives usually require good quality power supplies, so I probably wouldn't use one that wasn't meant for it.
