Brunofamily Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I suddenly have what looks like an egg sack or a cotton ball hanging under my rock. I have soft corals, one anemone, 5 or six common fish and the usual clean up crew. I have had snail eggs, but this doesn't look anything like it. I'll try to get a picture, but it's in a weird position. It is about an inch by 1/2 inch, all white. Quote
Timfish Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 My first guess would be a sponge species. Look up Tethys sp. Quote
Brunofamily Posted September 19, 2011 Author Posted September 19, 2011 I'll look it up, thanks. Quote
Brunofamily Posted September 21, 2011 Author Posted September 21, 2011 This is what they look like (more than one) Quote
Aaarrrggg Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Definitely some sort of spongy thing. I had something similar in my last tank but it was more beige... never seemed to cause a problem. Yours looks cool! Quote
Woods Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Definitely a sponge. You can see the vent in the first pic. They are fine. I have them all over my rock. I have yellow, white, purple, orange and dark (almost black) ones. Quote
wa1tx Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 If they are sponges, should they be fed? Or do they get there food from the water column? Quote
Chad and Jen May Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 They feed from the column... Quote
