medi
A while back someone posted a link to Avast marine's Top-Down Porthole lens housing. I saw that and decided I would just make my own using scrap I had lying around. The only expense I incurred was the DIY thumbscrews, found out Lowe's doesn't carry them nor do they know what a thumbscrew is, and the Tap kit which I needed to buy anyways. Obviously, it's looks a little rough, but it does exactly what I need. I only got to take a couple of pictures before my battery died, so I hope to get a few more tomorrow. Also, my MH had already turned off so these are with actinics only. Finally, I have done no editing to the pics yet so the colors are a little off. Let me know what you think. diabeetus
is there something covering the front of the device? or is it just an open tube?
medi
Thanks Diabeetus for the nice words. It is a 3 inch diameter piece of PVC with acrylic glued to the end. I took some more pics yesterday with the lights on and was very impressed with the way they turned out. I'll have to post some of them on here tomorrow when I get off of work. +brian.srock
Good job on the lens and glad it works. Everything I bought from you is doing fine so far. Thankfully I didn't get in too much trouble for all the extra buying I did.
