Top-down lens housing

Recommended Posts

A while back someone posted a link to Avast marine's Top-Down Porthole lens housing. I saw that and decided I would just make my own using scrap I had lying around. The only expense I incurred was the DIY thumbscrews, found out Lowe's doesn't carry them nor do they know what a thumbscrew is, and the Tap kit which I needed to buy anyways. Obviously, it's looks a little rough, but it does exactly what I need.

I only got to take a couple of pictures before my battery died, so I hope to get a few more tomorrow. Also, my MH had already turned off so these are with actinics only. Finally, I have done no editing to the pics yet so the colors are a little off. Let me know what you think.

Thanks Diabeetus for the nice words. It is a 3 inch diameter piece of PVC with acrylic glued to the end. I took some more pics yesterday with the lights on and was very impressed with the way they turned out. I'll have to post some of them on here tomorrow when I get off of work.
