Joseph9123
I'm on the verge of calling this a POS , I'm using in my 135 gallon 6ft long tank. And it keeps overheating and shutting off. I follow all the instruction on alignment to prevent issues. Second day messing with this. Any ideal what else?
+Hydro
Do you have the spacer set properly to your glass thickness?
Derekreefer
call ecotech. My support experience with them was good.
Michael Rodriguez
My support experience with them was with me ending up selling my pump for parts... Ecotecs are a really cool idea, but there are just too many parts on them to consider them reliable. I would rather just have a Tunze. Oh wait, I do!! Brooks
call ecotech. My support experience with them was good. +1 Their customer support is extremely helpful and reliable. Definitely give them a call. They even communicated with me on the weekend when I had a problem with my driver.

Joseph9123
I follow everything and keep messing with rotating the wet side and it's just not working, on high within 2 min it over heats. Thats garbage!!
Joseph9123
Called ecotech and left message, i'm thinking it maybe my fault for not putting it right. Alot of people use it and have no problems.
+Hydro
Are you sure you set the pin spacer right? I think that will make them overheat. I have 4 and have never done anything to them after installing 6 months ago, they work perfectly.
Joseph9123
I measure the glass and follow everything.
+etannert
Any chance of a voltage leak? My boyfriend had the same problem with an MP20 - if it was on high, it would shut off after a bit. Turns out there was a small voltage leak from a Koralia nano (which killed some fish too). Once he removed the faulty powerhead he stopped having issues with the VorTech. Joseph9123
I think it's a faulty unit, sending it back and they replacing it.
+mcallahan
I think it's a faulty unit, sending it back and they replacing it. never fun to have faulty gear, and I'm glad they took care of you. Joseph9123
Okay got my replacement today and it rocks!!!!! Great waves and all corals open up bigger then usual. I can see why people love this pump, not a huge wave box but then again, i sure one wave box will do everything i wanted. Gonna see how it goes for a week before deciding on another pump... Wish now I got a mp60 instead, owell. Live you learn.
Robb in Austin
Do you have it cranked all the way up? What mode are you in?
Gonzobob
Sorry for the late response, had the same issue with one of my MP10s, contacted EcoTech by email. Less than 2 weeks later I had a replacement MP10 which works great. Oh have a look at one of these in reef crest mode. It sells the system. Joseph9123
I have it on tidal mode 80 percent from max, i want 100 percent but i think i'm pushing that too hard for my 135 gallon. Well see in a couple of days when the break in done so weekend will see the full result.
