Heater for Horses...

Any kind of submersible hang on heater will cause problems. I know of some folks who built a "gate" around the heater using mesh to keep their ponies from hitching to their heaters. I don't use one. I keep my house around 72 degrees and pony loves it.

Is it possible to get a larger piece of PVC pipe to put the heater inside of so that it isn't exposed? Maybe the pipe would be too thick to hitch onto.

Melissa this sounds like a good idea. I wonder however if the water surrounding the heater inside the PVC might make the heater think the water is hotter than the actual tank is. Just a thought. . .
