mhart032
I have and use a couple of cameras i use, i have a Nikon D3 i use but in certain situations the camera is heavy and will ware you out. i have a d90 i use as a backup and i use when i go hiking or someplace where there is a good chance its going to get a little beat up. then i have a canon G10 for more compact photos. all are good camera. going from the nikon to the canon g10 was a bit aquard but the pics are just as good as the d90 and its a point and shoot. i dont rely or put much into MP when it comes to canon. seems more of a marking ploy by them to get the highest mp camera out there, but you cant beat the lens quality of the nikkor lenses. ive use mark 40ds and like that camera too. so its all about what you want to shoot and carry and what you like. here is what i did. i rented a nikon d60 for a weekend, then a canon mark 40d the next and compared them. i ended up going the nikon rout. i liked the fast shutter speeds of the canon and i loved that it was a true wide format, i liked the with a average 200mm zoom lens extended out the edges stayed and didnt soften. but! the picture quality of the nikon was much better, witch means less work in post production, and i liked the feel of the nikon much better. it just seemed to fit in my hand better. most of all, i liked the lens the nikkor lens are very smooth and light vs the canon seemed sticky and the focus seemed to be out on alot of auto pics. now days i do shoot more with the G10 out of convenience than anything else. just my .02 cents Matt
Ravenmore
I know I'm very late to this thread but thought I'd throw the Nikon D70 out there. Used they can be had for $200 - $250. I have a photography business and I keep meaning to upgrade it because it's getting a little older but every time I edit pics from it I'm blown away by how well the images hold up to my newer cameras. Here's some images from it:
