ReefNewb
ok, in my 55 gal, the past week we all of a sudden lost 5 fish in 4 days. water test done at rca, came back perfect. only fish left is our big damsel, he is acting fine, but i have now noticed what i beleive to be parasites on the glass. they are tiny white specs that move if you look close enough, almost like lice. By collynhartman at 2010-08-25 are these parasites, or ich? and do i need to get this fish in a 10 gal qt tank? i only have 10 gals of ro in the house, so i cant acclimate him if i do. what do i do??? please help! stoneroller
Odds are if they are clinging to the glass they are not parasites. Ich is a parasite btw. How long has the tank been set up? What are you running for filtration? How big were the fish that died? What species?

stoneroller
The skimmer is one form of filtration. Do you have biological filtration like a sump with bioballs, live rock, fuge, etc. ? How much live rock in the tank? Tell us about the whole setup, all of the water test results and when you got those tested, water change schedule, and what your goals are for the tank. Or direct us to where it's at. plz To me, that was a lot of fish in a small tank (given the spp listed) on top of the fact that it is fairly young. ReefNewb
60# of liverock (not the best). No sump just yet. I plan to build a sump for it in the very near future. The two already sick fish came from a tank I'd bought (rescued) from a lady last Monday. The water was tested Saturday, and did a 10 gal water change that night after it was tested. As for a cuc I have three mex turbos 25 crabs and a cucumber. Substrate is crushed coral. What is the job of pods if that's hat they are? Oozrkawater is coming by tonight to take a look for me. Still want to make sure these guys won't kill my tank anymore. Thanks
+dapettit
Pods = free food. I'm going to assume the tank has cycled, right? Sounds to me like a very high bio-load. Did you have the water tested befor the deaths? If so can you post the results? Did I miss read or did you resuce to "sick" fish from someone last week? stoneroller
Sounds like a rescue gone bad, sorry to say. How's the cucumber doing after all this? To me, those are timebombs waiting to go off. If it dies (or died) and you don't get the body out fast it could be a disaster.
ReefNewb
Tank is cycled. Water was tested the day before I lost the last fish. I don't have actual numbers, the guy just said everything looks just fine. That's my fault for not asking. And ya these sick fish came in to play just after my damsel started showing illness. The history on the sick fish is in reef keeping titled "picking up my new tank tommorow"

Tavio
Flukes cling to glass and they multiply like no ones buisness. They are small but elongated, visible to the naked eye.
