+Melissa
I have about an hour to go till I pick up a Clownfish that was put in a jar, and dropped off at a restaurant about 30 minutes ago. No idea how long he's been jarred. Is there anything special I need to do to acclimate him once I get him home, that would be different from getting one at a store? Might be a dumb question so I apologize. I just want to make sure that if he was deprived of oxygen for a while, that I don't screw it up. Should I add my water to his, a little at a time? Thank you ARC! I can easily keep him in a breeder box to make sure my two don't hurt him too.
offroadodge
jsut set the jar lid open in ur tank water to bring the temp up(30min or so). then just add a little or ur water to jar at TIME. for about 30 min or so. Then pt him in. If the jar had a lis he is probly dead due to lack of oxygen, depends on how full the jar was.

+Melissa
When I talked to the guy earlier, I asked him to remove the lid and keep it off, and take a straw and agitate the water's surface hoping to get something in there for him. Poor little guy. How can someone just dump a fish at a place where there is no aquarium?? Seems like a death sentence. I appreciate the advice a lot. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he's still alive. The guy said he would call if he died, so ..... In the back of my mind though, I wonder what this fish did to piss off that lady? Or if he was someone elses fish (ex) and she wanted to be mean, or if he ate someone... who knows. I heard of a lady that got so mad at her husband that she poured bleach into his tank. Poor poor fish.

+Melissa
Thank you everyone! I would have picked it up immediately, but I couldn't leave work. Believe me, when we have required overtime.... I was NOT expecting it to be this big. Its roughly 4 inches, FAT, and um..... maroon? lol I guess in my mind I still picture the clownfish as Percs. We showed up at the Canyon Grill Ice House, (the other side of it is a Chinese restaurant ironically) in Dripping Springs and the kid showed me to the fish. I was shocked to see this monster sitting in a large plastic jar on the counter. Very healthy, fat;, and alive. The lady even put some tropical flakes in for it... if he got hungry?? I poured it in the container I had with some water to start the acclimating. ( made a pitstop at the house for a real container and some water). We acclimated it for an hour or so and dropped it in the tank, and it swam down into a rock cave, The other clowns were curious and they didn't bother, just looked, as did the monster. Here are some pics, sorry for the poor quality, my camera sucks. I have to say I'm a little pleased
offroadodge
hopefully the percs and maroon continue to get along. Maroons temperment typically MEAN to the Percs.
+mcallahan
I give it a day max before the maroon puts a good ol' country a** whoopin' on the other clowns
+Melissa
I had that in the back of my mind too. So far so good as of this morning, though lunchtime could bring change. I just didn't want the thing to die. I already discussed getting rid of either the new one, or my other two. When I plopped it in the tank, some of the flake that was in the transfer container got into the tank, and the percs were more impressed that food came with the new fish and proceeded to eat it all. lol
stoneroller
Once he's king, he'll be taking chunks out of you too!! Good luck.
+Melissa
Well, you guys were ALL right, by lunchtime Saturday, she had managed to take a bite out of my smallest PJ Cardinal (though he got his but kicked by our clowns when we added him so, not sure on him), two chunks out of my smallest perc, and one out of my big perc. I hated seeing my two clowns hiding under the spout of the protein skimmer, so I caught the maroon yesterday and put her in a breeder box, all I had on hand, until she has a new home. I can't find it to take her to a store, after what she's been through, even though she's a b**. Now the two percs are dancing and taunting her through the box lol. "who's the B* now?" Chad and Belinda
Guess we now know why he was in the jar in the 1st place. LOL A few months back, we were given the largest maroon clown I have ever seen in my life. Actually, it was a package deal. The 1st thing I did was put him in the sump and put a for sale thread on ARC and MAAST. Thankfully, he went fast. The new owner was an experienced reefer so he knew what he was getting. Beautiful fish, bad attitude. Like you, we learned the hard way about maroons along time ago.
Toxiq Reef
My maroons aren't aggressive by any means(except to the false perc who found a home in my tank) lol
